Just a Few Words

Morning Buddys.  Just stopped in for a couple minutes.  Getting ready to see Dad in the hospital.  My brother and sister - in - law go in the morning, my husband and I go for dinner.  Works out very well.

Dad lost quite a bit of blood throughout the surgery so they have gave him 2 pints.  Hoping he is feeling better today, yesterday he was very fatigued and out of it :(

He will probably be transferred to a rehab facility to relearn how to walk.  I’m worried about the whole picture, he is so weak and so old with many medical conditions.

But we are staying strong in our faith, trying to keep a smile on his face and just follow Gods guidelines here :)

Eating wise has really been a challenge.  I have not stuck with South Beach very well and I’m only hurting myself.  I have to figure a way for my husband to eat healthy and still be in a hospital for supper time.  Grrrr…there are some good choices in the Cafeteria, but maybe I’ll consider making food and bringing it with.  They did offer us a micro and fridge for food.

I’m hoping you all are having a wonderful weeend.  The temps will reach 50-60 here in MIchigan.  Can’t wait toget out and enjoy it!

Easter Dinner Suggestions Needed!!!

Phase 1 South Beacher  here looking for any and all suggestions for a yummy Easter dinner.

This will be a whole new way of eating in my house and I’m sure to shock my children…LOL!!!!

As of today my South Beach dinner will consist of Lean Ham, Asparagus, Sweet Potatoes (for the kids) Fresh Fruit (for the kids) Crescents (for the kids) and Brownies for desert.

This only leaves lean ham and asparagus for my husband and I as we follow South Beach.

I’d like to have more to choose from but the foods are so limited :(  so any ideas would be so appreciated!! Thank you….Love you guys!!!

ER with Dad :( Stayed on Track 100%

Easter 17 # 285935Oh my poor father.  Just sitting in his chair feeling just fine and the doctors office calls to say his Potassium levels are too high and he needs to be in the Emergency Room immediately.

I was on my way out the door to meet my husband at work, planned a walk at the Y and a dinner out.

Things worked out ok, Dads fine, hubby and I did have a healthy meal (not the steak house we had intended) but we didn’t make the Y.

We ended up eating at the Fire Mountain which is a buffet.  It offers so many different meat and vegetable choices I knew we would be fine.  We left feeling satisfied….ending the meal with some sugar free jello :)

Dads fine today, I’m stronger then ever and looking forward to the 24th as my weigh in for the first South Beach Weigh in!!!

Hey Shanna???? doesn’t that date ring a bell…giggle giggle…big big day isn’t  it?

I am a little bit confused, as I read Jo’s blog about diet soda.  It isn’t allowed?  OMG…its the one thing I look forward to in the evening.  Its my sweet treat.  I only have about 8 ounces, not a whole lot.  Everyday I ‘m learning more and more.  Thank you everyone who is giving me support and helping me choose the right foods.  It truly can be a challenge in the beginning!!!

Today is the Big Day!!

Its Monday morning :)  Today is the day, the big day, the first day into my journey of healthy eating, yet once again.  But what is different about today?  Well this time I WILL SUCCEED!!!

I want to wish my buddy Jo best of luck on her first day of South Beach.  Also to all my other buddys who are following South Beach.

I also want to thank everyone who took time to help me understand and learn about the South Beach Way.  Thank you for the recipes, the food suggestions, etc.  Couldn’t have done it without you.

Was  a horrible weekend here in Michigan.  Starting Friday about 2:00 a.m. the bathroom became my best friend :(  Sick with the flu, need not give details.  Now today, Monday morning I’m left with a nasty head cold.

Come to find out my grandson was coming down with the flu on Thursday when I was visiting.  I only pray my father doesn’t pick up this bug, because its a tough one and he is still so very weak “sigh”

Up this morning at 6:00 a.m

  • Coffee 6 ounces with splenda
  • 7:oo a.m. 6 ounces Low Sodium V8 Juice
  • 9:00 a.m. Egg Beaters with Green onions, Canadian Bacon & reduced fat cheese

So far so good :)  Lunch will probably be a big salad with South Beach Ranch dressing and some turkey breast.  Dinner is planned….Chicken Breast grilled, fresh asparagus, small salad and sugar free jello for desert.  I’ll have 8 ounces fat free milk, my hubby prefers his ice water!!

Wishing everybody a good day…a Happy St. Patricks Day to all!!! LOL!! We had our corned beef and cabbage yesterday, I only had a couple bites, too strong for my poor stomach!!

I’ll need all the prayers I can get!!! Carbs have been my very best friend all my life.  I’m hoping I don’t show my “other” side :(  This will be a challenge for me to stop the breads and potatoes, but I’m sure with my buddys and Gods help I CAN DO THIS!!!

God channels all the power of heaven through the authority of the believer who knows the rights and privileges that belong to him and are found in the name of Jesus.

Bob Yandian

On the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of all.

Quick Question

Has anyone here at BuddySlim heard of or tried the Stillmans Inches Off Diet before?

When I was growing up my mother was really overweight.  She stumbled upon this diet…Stillmans.  I was heavy also, so together we tried the new eating.  I lost over 50 pounds on this eating plan.  My mother lost alot, but also found out during blood work her thyroid wasn’t working which made her gain weight.

Sooooooooooooo I just wanted some input on Stillmans from BuddySlim, or Dr. Marc.

Hey good news!!!! I’ve already walked on the treadmill 45 minutes, and WE WILL go to the YMCA tonight.  Even if the roads are bad, we’ll just go 20 mph..LOL!! no more excuses.

Have a great weekend everybody…stay safe…hug someone…do something nice and always smile!!

Ok ready??? Drum roll please!!! LOL!!

Guess what we

did?  Finally my husband and I joined the YMCA on Sunday!!! They had sent

an offer that we couldn’t refuse.  You could save $100.00 if you joined by January 31.  This is our year…the year to become healthy and finally be rid of all this horrible weight.   I am bigger then I’ve

ever been and theres just no excuse for it.  We worked out only about 30 minutes yesterday because it was packed.  We could only grab two bikes side by side and didn’t want to be at opposite ends of the gym.

This morning I was up at 4:00 a.m. in the shower getting ready to go back this morning!!! On the road at 5:00 a.m. we got there at 5:30, walked the treadmill for 30 minutes (side by side) and rode the bike for 15 minutes.  My rear end was hurting!!!! LOL!! Those bike seats are not made for comfort!! So we are off to a great start (just like most people in January) and I just hope we can keep at it. My husband has to be at work by 8:00 a.m., so it will work out fine.  An hour to work out, 30 min drive home..quick shower and off to work!!  I may have heart disease and I’m not able to work out like most, but darnit I’m going to give it my all.  I want my before/after picture to look like some of my heros here.  I want SKINNY!!! or at least HEALTHY!!!

My husbands so funny, he had to get new gym clothes yesterday…he had to pick out special headphones for me to use…LOL!!! Quite an expensive weekend I should say, but should be worth it if we can get healthy and live longer.  I need to be around to see my adorable grandson grow up.  I need him and I know he needs his Gramma!!!

Ok…hope everyone had a fun filled weekend!!!

Alphabet Soup for the Soul

Letter T  Tears:  Let your tears flow for those who hurt. Weeping is a physical expression of your compassion. Scripture tells us that Jesus wept then he learned his friend Lazarus died (John 11:35). St. Paul reminds us to “weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15).

Came Across this Awesome Healthy Recipe Site

Healthrecipes.comHappy Tuesday Buddies!!

I was searching for healthy recipes to share with a special buddy of mine.  I came across this site and found it packed full of information.  I love Google…you can Google just about anything..LOL!!!

Busy day today….drove to my fathers old neighborhood 50 miles away and closed up the old bank account.  We are currently moving to a bank only 10 minutes from home.  Makes everything so much easier.  He had to take me to breakfast at his favorite little spot.  The restaurant he and my mother ate at often.  It was quite sad actually, he misses her so much.

I wanted to get the letter of the day in…so here we go!!

Alphabet Soup for the Soul

Letter H:  Honor:  Use your time, talent, and money to honor God and to help people.  Consider David Robinson, a professional basketball player with the San Antonio Spurs, who gave $5 million to build a prep school in a blighted area of San Antonio.  “My philosophy is simple,”  Robinson declares.  “Honor God.”

Tommorrow I will go see my doctor.  Keep your fingers crossed, I’m a bit worried.  I’ve done something to my neck and almost feel paralyzed some days.  The scales are rising daily which is scary with my congestive heart failure.  I’m wondering if it could be my throid?  We’ll see, I’ll be back tommorrow.  Hope everyone is healthy and happy today.  Love ya all!!!

Babys~~Challenge~~Diabetes~~

Treadmill Busy Monday morning so far.  Started my December walking/cardio challenge!! YIPPEE!! Only walked 20 minutes but I plan to walk 40 mins more by the end of the day.!! Slowly but surely for me!!

My son and daughter in law sat down with me over the weekend to tell of the GOOD NEWS!!! It was sooooooooo hard for me to act “surprised”  Amber took two at home pregnancy tests and both were positive.  We’ll know officially on December 10th after shes seen the doctor.

Just found out my daughter has really been trying to have a second baby.  I’m not sure that will happen.  Talan is a miracle baby, a gift from god I say.  Angela has been told my more then 1 doctor her chances of conceiving are about 10% due to some scar tissues.  They found precancerous cells and that caused some scarring.  Sooooooooo we’ll see what Gods plan is on that situation!! I surely want another grandchild from my daughter!!!

My sister in law is a registered nurse, my daughter in law is in training so between them they really think I’m pre-diabetic.  Very very close to the edge…YIKES….soooooo my choice in eating like a diabetic is probably the best decision I’ve made.  I keep testing twice a day.  I’ll have 1 more test at the lab probably next week then we’ll see what the doctor says!

Ok..wow, I’ve babbled alot today  LOL!!! Hope everyone out there is doing good.  Those of us in the snow, stay warm…those close to the beaches…(Rachael) enjoy the warmth!!
