Thoughts of New Years Resolutions
Good Afternoon all buddys in buddyslim
Hope your Wednesday is going well….1/2 way through the week YIPPEE!!!
Just wanted to touch on the subject of New Years Resolutions—–Have you all made yours for 2009?
Do you make the same ones every year and seem to fail?
Have you already failed at the newest New Years Resolutions for 2009?
You know what? I always have the same ones, and I suspect most of you do as well.
- Lose weight
- Exercise More
- Bet a Better Person
- For the smokers……Quit Smoking
- Get more involved in your Church
Ok, you get the picture. With my dieting…..much rather call it my healthy journey. The D word always sounds so brutal to me.
This year my one New Years Resolution is simply “Do My Best For Myself” This year I refuse to set strict boundaries because it has gotten me nowhere.
When I was struggling with a 30 year smoking addiction, I learned so much about addictions. In my case I believe I am “addicted” to food. I love cooking it, love watching people enjoy my cooking, love eating, love fast food and everythat bad that goes along with it. In my smoking cessation classes, the one phrase they always used was “Never quit quitting”
That will be my “signature phrase” for 2009
I hope that those who have made their New Years Resolutions will have success.
Lets take this one day at a time. Its a new year, we have a new chance…..and I’m putting on a new face….yes buddys, this is my GAME FACE!!!! LOL!!!
Thought I’d share some dieting quotes I found
- The biggest seller is cookbooks and the second is diet books–how not to eat what you’ve just learned to cook ~Andy Rooney
- The cardiologists diet: If it tastes good, then spit it out ~Author Unknown
- Don’t dig your grave with your own knife and fork ~English Proverb
- Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not you still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids and the same life. Loosing weight is not a cure for life ~Phillip C. McGraw
- The one way to get thin is to re-establish a purpose in life ~Cyril Connolly
I’m sending all my heartfelt blessing to all of you here, wishing you the very best 2009. May all your goals be reached….your dreams be answered and most of all…lets all stick together as we are a “BuddySlim” family and get healthy!!!!
Love you all sooooooooo much

Great goals Jane. I am proud of you for chosing to be healthier and healthier each day.
I just realized that there are some really special people here that I just love who are struggling to stop smoking this year and my heart and prayers go out to you all. It is hard as I can see, but it is so worth it. YOU CAN DO IT!
Have a happy and healthy day Jane. Sending you much love today and all days. *HUGS*
Do my best for myself……….powerful words!
Thank you for another inspirational blog! You and Shan are on a roll today!
LOVE YOU LOTS!

“Never quit quitting”
What powerful words!
Thank you for sharing! This year is for ME! I have taken care of everyone else all these years and 2009 is “Take Care of ME Year!”. So far these past 7 days have been pretty awesome!
Sending you all my love and happy new year!!!!
Awesome way to look at it. I don’t really have many I made, but quitting smoking is on there. But I do vow to do the best for myself. And I want to be able to help others. Love you!
Well said my friend, well said!
I like those quotes…
And a beautiful Game Face it is Sista. Love your thoughts and your resolution.
Did you know that in 2008, I wore my seat belt 100% of the time? *pats self on back* hehe…
One day at a time. Take my hand. Shall we skip?
Hugggggggggggggggggggggs,
Shan
I like the quote by Andy Rooney! Isn’t it odd how our culture has two faces about food, with every holiday revolving around gorging yourself, yet there’s also a love affair and infatuation with being thin? Women’s magazines with “Lose 10 Pounds!” followed by a fatty recipe always made me chuckle.
