Straight From The Heart

Dear Friends,

I have a question for you.  What are you hoping for?  What are you expecting in life? Are you looking for something good to happen or are you expecting to be disappointed?  So many people are feeling hopeless these days.  However, Jesus did not die for us to be hopeless.  He died so that we could be full of hope.

What is hope? It’s simply a favorable and confident expectation; it’s looking forward with anticipation of something good.  Hope is what keeps us from giving up during hard times.

The psalmist wrote, [What, what would have become of me] had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living! (Psalm 27.13). What if we were to give up today.

Our Father is good, and He has good plans for each of our lives.  If we will maintain our hope, especially in the midst of troubled and uncertain times, He has promised us “double for our trouble” (see Zechariah 9:12).

So refuse to give up hope. Start expecting God to do something–something good!! He is working in your life.  Sure you may go through times when you wonder will things ever change.  But that’s what hope is all about.  Maintain an attitude of expectancy.  Believe that God is working.  It doesn’t cost you anything to hope, but it can cost an awful lot to be hopeless.

There’s power in hope!!!

Copied from Joyce Meyers Enjoying Everyday Life publication Volume 22/ Number 7/July 2008

I just had to share this buddys.  Joyce Meyer is such an amazing part of my life.  I’ve enjoyed her sermons for years now and I’m so happy to see so many others here at BuddySlim enjoy her words.

Love you here…remember when times are tough…God is right there holding our hands.  We WILL reach the other side…We WILL become healthy once again!!!

Love and happiness to all here.

Has anyone spoke to Jo (marathon girl) lately?

Miss U I’m really hoping somebody here at BuddySlim is still talking with our long time buddy Jo.  I miss her like crazy.

Seems when I was on vacation I missed a blog from her stating she was leaving buddyslim.  If anyone wanted to keep in touch, then they were to e-mail her.  I did and haven’t heard anything.

Does anybody know anything?  I just want to know if she is ok..and to make sure she knows how much she was loved here.  I know I am not the only one who feels this way.

Any info would be appreciated.  Or if you do talk to her, could you tell her I miss her!! and I want to share my private e-mail with her!!

Thank you all :)

Anyone seen the movie Wall-E by Disney Pixar?

Wall-E Teaser PosterGood morning BuddySlimmers.  Today our Big/Little Sister adventure will bring us to the local movies to watch Wall-E :)

Katelins choice of course.  Well, she could choose from these choices.  1).  Start our scrapbook  2).  Volunteer at the crisis center  3).  Go see a Movie (her choice of movies)  so here we are!!!

At noon today we’ll be sitting in the movies.  I do have a healthy plan for snacks.  I’ll order the popcorn/pop combo….requesting a Diet Coke and popcorn~~NO butter~~ NO salt!!!

Hopefully Katelin will follow suit, we’ll see!! remember she is 12 years old and they do have a mind of their own!

Did well with my eating yesterday.  Did my treadmill, and started studying again :)  I will get through this course even if it kills me!!! LOL!! and it just might do that!!!

Ok…my buddys, have a fantastic day filled with love and happiness.  Love you All!!

Christmas in July!!!!!!!! YAHOO!!!

slot machines cartoons, slot machines cartoon, slot machines picture, slot machines pictures, slot machines image, slot machines images, slot machines illustration, slot machines illustrationsGood Monday Morning to all my Special Buddys!!!!!

Wow…wow….wow….   :)   We had such an incredible weekend I just wanted to share it with my friends here at BuddySlim!!!

On Saturday my hubby and I called the Soaring Eagle Casino/Resort to see if they had any available rooms for the night.  At first he said he only had 1 room with 2 double beds…BOOOOO…nope, not gonna fly.  Not for over 100 dollars.  I said “are you sure that is all you have”?  He said…hold on…oh yes….I just had a room with a King bed open up…YIPPEE!!! By this time I’m doing the happy dance (thinking of you Jen Jen :)  )  I said we’ll take it!!

Off we go, quite a little drive….about 87 miles to be exact.  But thats ok because just being together with my husband AWAY from home is such a treat!!!

After check in off to the casino we go.  We were very practical about the money.  We each allowed ourselves $100 to gamble with.  We promised not to  pull any more money out.  This would be a challenge  LOL!!!

We had a fun evening, came back to the room around 10:00 p.m.  We had 1/2 the money we went with, but had played for over 4 hours and had a ball.

The next morning after breakfast and checkout we decided to just go back and play a little more…hehehehehe.

Something just seemed to guide me over to this silly 1 cent (penny) machine  LOL!! We play them, but mostly for the fun.  They typically are NOT money makers.

This one machine (Sea Lions) was just calling my name!! So here I go….insert @20.00.  Immediately this machine starts paying off.  My hubby sitting next to me is in shock.  It just kept going up and up, and the final amount was $289.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I immediately cashed out and smiled from ear to ear :)  I decided to put in another $20.00, so I did, and this time I cashed out at $170.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  All in all this particular machine paid out $459.00…minus the 40.00…..so thats $419.o0 for a penny machine :)

Needless to say we were just thrilled.  The winnings paid for the 200.00 in gamling…the 120.00 for the room, 30.00 for dinner, 15.00 for lunch and 20 for gas in the car and still allowed us to bring a little home.

Ok…so were back to reality now!!!

By 8:00 a.m. this morning I have already

1.  Had 1 healthy shake today

2.  Walked on the treadmill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3.  Have dinner planned and prepped (we’ll have a healthy version of Goulash using Jennie-o Turkey Breast, fresh green peppers, vidalia onions, stewed tomatoes and yolk free noodles!!! We’ll also have fresh picked peas from the local farm :)

4.  Have my MT books and papers laid out ready for me.

I sure hope every had a fabulous weekend!! We sure did!!! I’m still smiling :)  Can’t seem to wipe it off my face…guess I really don’t want to..LOL!!!

Life is so good….God is so great….I love BuddySlim….I love my Buddys….May God bless you all today and everyday.

Healthy choices….keep moving….and the best medicine ever…SMILE SMILE SMILE!!!

Does anyone here feel like we are

Friend.gif Friend image by CathKateDestined to be overweight for the rest of our lives?

This is certainly not a blog look for sympathy, and I’m not beating myself up….but I just wondered how many of you out there feel like I do?

Somedays it feels like I’m fighting a no win battle.  I watch others and am amazed at their progress.  I’m so happy for them…so proud of their accomplishments.

Its seems as long as I can remember I’ve struggled with this weight.  As a teenager I could drop 5 pounds a week with no problem.  After having my children things were tough, but I still was able to lose the weight.

Since age 40 and quitting smoking my body seems to be all confused.  IT seems to be very comfortable wearing plus sizes and I’M not happy with this.

So thats really it…all in a nutshell….DOES anyone out there feel like this?? sometimes maybe??? all the time??? Just wondering :)

Ok..back to the drawing board.

1.  I will walk the treadmill 20 mins minimum

2.  I will drink my healthy shake 2 times a day

3.  I will eat a healthy dinner with my husband

4.  I will take time to study my MT studies

5.  I will take take to smile and thank God for all the blessings he has brought and continues to bring upon me and my family and friends.

One more thing before I leave today….Shanna had listed some really awesome quotes.  I did a google search on quotes, and stumbled upon this one.  You might enjoy it, I do!!!

September 27, 2008 Give or Take a Day or 2

Kid With Doll Doll Hey Buddys!!

Big Day on September 27th.  The doctors once again verified the date for my daughters birth of their baby daughter.  The name chosen is Brooklyn Rose.  What do you think of the name?????  hehehehe…I’m over the top EXCITED!!!

I’ll say this.  When you pray for something, be specific in prayer.  I’ve heard this said several times and now I am more convinced then ever.

When I had my last hospital episode and came so close to the end, I asked God for a couple of things.  I had already been blessed with Talan….but I wanted to be a Grammy once more to a little girl.  Badda Boom Badda Bing What a Wonderful Thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I will have that prayer answered as well.

I am confused as I continue to pray for strength and guidance in losing these unwanted unhealthy pounds.  Its going soooooooooooo slowly :(  But I am making good choices.  I’ve learned so much and I’m thankful for all my buddys who continue to encourage and support me!!!

Wishing you all a happy afternoon.  The week is almost over..YIPPEE!!! Love you all!!

A Walk with Joyce

hugs purple bear sparklehas really woke me up today!! First off, I’ve missed BuddySlim sooooooooo much these past few days!!! I’ve really gotten behind in my mail and the blogs.  MIA!!! help!!!  LOL!!! but I’m back for a bit anyways.  Life seems to be overwhelming right now, but in a really good sort of way :)

I love Joyce Meyer….somedays I feel like she is talking straight to me.  As I was walking on the treadmill today, Joyce told gave me an important message.

I want to share this.  She said “Stop trying to fix problems you have NO control over”  “Stop feeling responsible for EVERYONE elses problems”  Put that extra stress into Gods hands.!!    I’ve been famous for preaching those exact words, but lately find myself trying to FIX everthing!!!

After my walk I felt so much better, not the just the walk, but the message.

Hope everyones July 4th weekend was fun…and healthy.  For those of us who made a few “not so good” choices, its ok…No beating yourself up.  Its a new day, a new chance to make things all good again!!!

July 8, 2008

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall life you up.

James 4:10

Be humble by realizing you need Me.

Depend upon Me and I will exalt you and honor you.

I will make your life significant.

All of life blessings and all of my love to my special buddys here at BuddySlim.

If You Give a Little ~~~~

I promise you will be blessed in so many ways!! So many ways you won’t even realize!!

I’m soooooooooo excited about my day today.  Couldn’t hardly sleep last night!!! hehehehe

My little sis and I will be going to a “crisis type” center today to volunteer.  This particular center is somewhat like a Goodwill or Salvation Army, but the difference is….it doesn’t charge any money.

People going through tough times that qualify can get free food, free clothing, household items.  They also have a senior meals on wheels program.

There are endless opportunities for us to volunteer.  I wanted to teach my little to find time for others.  God wants us to be givers of our time if thats possible.  Maybe we don’t have money to give, but time is priceless.

In my experiences, I’ve learned just by giving alittle bit…and I don’t mean money because there isn’t alot of that floating around here..LOL!! But if I give just a little of my time to help someone in rough spot, someone who is having a hard time or just needs a friend :)  I always walk away feeling sooooooooooo complete. Its a win-win situation then!!!

The most exciting part of our whole journey together is that my little is just as excited about this as I am!!!  It’ll be like 2 little kids at Christmas time!!!  LOL!!

Ok, need to go…can’t be late.  Thats a fine quality to be taught to her as well…punctuality is very important :)

On leaving….I wanted to say this.  The special group of people at BuddySlim are all GIVERS!!! You all give of your time and heart to those of us at this site looking for some encouragement and kind words.  Thank you for taking YOUR time to give a little!!

Love you all so much :)

Day 4  Walking         Yes

Need some suggestions and ideas Please!

Good Afternoon BuddySlimmers out there!!!

This will be a really quick blog, as some really bad storms are rolling my way :(

I’m trying to plan a healthy 4th of July get together and I’m hoping maybe to get some ideas or suggestions here!! I see BuddySlim is soooooooooooo slow today….most people are working or busy I think!

I plan on using Turkey Burgers (Bette Jo….thanks for that one)  and I’ve experiemented with making a healthier version of potato salad.  I was just hoping to get some NEW ideas!!

If you have any, and you have a free minute it would be appreciated!!

Love you guys!!

Eeeeks My Aching Legs!!!

quote cat fish bowlOk…made it through Day 1.  Followed my list almost completely.  Never did open my MT books, but today I will dive head first into my studies :)

As far as 1-3 I stayed right on track.  My legs are really aching today….but its a good ache.  I knew how out of shape I had gotten, especially with vacation and all.

I did my 20 minutes on the treadmill.  Its just soooooooo boring, even if I’m watching tv while walking.  But I did it!!!  I have this little voice and a picture of a special buddy here that keeps me in check   LOL!!!  Always asking if I’m walking…well YUPPERS I am again!!!

Last night my husband and I drove to one of our favorite lakes and took a nice walk.  Got in about 25 more minutes, so I went over my actual goal.  Felt really proud of myself.  Thank God for giving me the strength and determination to get back in the routine.

Thanks to all my buddys for the constant encouragement and kind words.  Life wouldn’t be complete without my buddys :)

Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Proverbs 19:21

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

Psalm 37:23

You may be thinking YOU know where you want to go, but MY purpose for you is what will work.  As my child, every step you take is ordered by ME. I am actively involved in your life, pointing you toward true success.

Sending happy thoughts, gods blessings and all my love to my buddys out there at BuddySlim.  Make good choices today…they will affect your tommorrow!!!! And remember to WALK!!!
