85 and Yes Still Smiling!!
This morning was really a wake up call….a reality check you could say.
My sister in law had a doctors appointment this morning so she asked that I come and help Dad with his insulin shot. I thought he had been doing it on his own, but I was wrong on that. I agreed…no problem I would come around 9:00. I overslept…got up at 9:00 a.m., hopped in the shower and by 9:30 I was next door.
Dad greeted me at the door in his wheelchair, big huge grin on his face and the smell of bacon in the air. The smile on his face was absolutely priceless buddys. He had made himself bacon, eggs and toast and was getting ready to do the dishes. All this from the wheelchair.
I thought this last episode with the broken hip, heart attack and sugar imbalance was the end of my Dads time here with us. He sure has proved otherwise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an inspiration he is to me!!! To be 85 years old and still smiling is amazing. Once walking, driving, going out to eat at least twice a week, and now only a few months later confined to a wheelchair, and he still remains positive and happy to be alive!!!
I believe many of us have disabilities…I for one have a bad heart which restricts my amount of exercise. Some of us have asthma, or COPD…some are handicapped and in wheelchairs. Some of us have been immobile for so long exercise seems literally impossible. But if we keep the faith..believe in ourselves WE CAN DO THIS!!!
Lets all take a lesson from my Dad today!!! Be happy for all our blessings. Be happy we are alive!!! Be happy we can exercise (stop that moaning and groaning LOL ) Be happy we can choose healthy foods…and Be happy we have BuddySlim and all the incredible people here!!!
Love you guys!! Have a fabulous weekend!!!

Amen to all of that. We all have some sort of disability. We must have faith and live each day like it is our last. I know sometimes I dwell on all the negative stuff going on in my life I forget about all the blessings that I do have. We love you too….enjoy your weekend. Be safe and healthy!!!
