Angels Among Us

angel_in_training.gif angel image by mosco_winoI wanted to thank each and every one here at BuddySlim for all your kind words and prayers.  You are all angels in my eyes and I appreciate the time you take to help me through the rough times.

My dad does indeed have an aortic annurysm, but I’m told this is quite common.  People can live long, normal lives with this condition.  It doesn’t explain some of his other symptoms, but the doctors are keeping a close eye on him.  I was talking with a special friend earlier, and realized maybe Dad will never come home :(  I’m not as strong as some might believe, but I do have a strong faith and I know God has a plan.  Sometimes I cannot understand it, but I know everything happens for a reason.

One day at a time buddys, isn’t that how we are supposed to do it!!! Lets grab hands and make this the best,  awesome life God has given us.  Lets get healthy together and always find time to smile!!! Its good medicine (I’ve been told)  LOL!!! Love you guys…stay focused and positive.  We only have 1 chance at this life of ours so lets make it the BEST!!!

When two or more believers put their faith together, they can chase ten thousand!

Its a Sad Day Here

Jesus Loves YouIt seems kind of quiet here today at Buddy Slim.  Hope my buddys are all happy and healthy today.

We just got word my father isn’t doing well at all.  He was supposed to be coming  for a home visit this afternoon at 1:00.  He hasn’t been feeling too well the past week, so todays plans were somewhat iffy.

He’s been getting sick after physical therapy.  The doctor suspects it might be an aoretic annuryism.  From what I know this is very serious and they are going to get him into the hospital for an ultrasound.

I’m feeling so sad and scared for my dad.  He’s been through way to much.  Any and all prayers would be deepely appreciated.

Love you guys…have a great day and remember to stay strong and positive.

Are We There Yet?

crazygirl.gifEver had one of those days?  Are you asking yourself??? Where am I???  Am I there yet??  How long do I have to keep struggling to lose this weight????????

Well….reality check!!!  The answer is FOREVER!! Guess we’ve got to realize we put ourselves in this position and now its high time to find our way out.

I think we just all have these days when we just plain give up.  We cheat…don’t exercise and say “Oh Well”…”tommorrow is another day”  God knows I’ve done that 1 time to many, and now I suffer big time “sigh”

So…call me CRAZY!!! YUP…..somedays that title fits me to a tee…but in the real world I’m just 1 amongst many trying to find my way down the road to the healthy lifestyle that we all desire and DESERVE :)

I hope everyones Mothers Day was beautiful.  My son in law (to be) cooked dinner for my daughter and myself.  He made chicken breast with seasonings and lime….whole wheat penne, alfredo sauce, and a nice big salad.  It was absolutely delicious, and I had small portions.  No one has ever cooked me a Mothers Day meal, so I was very impressed and touched.

Today was a general doctors visit.  My scales at home say 208, my docs says 211, which is typical.  I’m continuing to hold my own right now, and will have my husband take my measurements again in a couple of days.

Some days I really feel like I’m going crazy…but if we all keep our faith in God….keep the faith in ourselves and keep plugging along, we’ll reach our goals!!!

Love ya all…This quote I’m sharing today really hits home, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.!!

Never Give Up

Encouragement CommentsHappy Thursday Morning BuddySlimmers :)

Only stopping in for a quick minute today, have a busy day ahead!!  I’m hoping everyone is doing well and staying on track.

I’ve managed to finally move my weight ticker!!! It was temporarily stuck for a while!! LOL!!! but I finally saw some good results this morning…..after a couple of days of really hard work.  See it does all pay off!!

Remember when you feel like you arn’t making progress, things are still happening.  We all seem to see our scales get stuck on the same number, but all of a sudden its down!!!  Remember buddys, one day at a time.  Love ya All!!

The Long and Winding Road

Friends online are a special group.  You can always count on them to be there.  Doesn’t matter if you are having a bad hair day, or your clothes are ragged.  They just seem to love and accept you regardless.  I want to take this moment to say THANKS to my internet friends!!! Each of you are so special and make my world complete!!!

Around the 3rd week of April I began a new eating program.  I’ve had my ups and downs…gone astray a few times but always found myself back faithful and grounded.

Every 3/4 days my husband patiently does the measurements.  Its a long process, but watching the inches melt away is encouragement enough to keep on keepin on :)

So far I’ve lost 37 inches and 11 pounds.  My ticker doesn’t reflect the true loss.  I actually started out at 222 pounds and am now (again) at 211.  I’ve lost and gained the same weight since I’ve been here at BuddySlim.  I think this time I have the right balance…..proper nutrition and some exercise.

As I watch my buddys and others as they reach their goals…and some who struggle like myself, I only hope for happiness and healthiness for us all.  Its a long and winding road….a lifetime journey, and together, hand in hand, one step at a time we CAN achieve our goals.

We have many heros here to look up to!! Lets take their wise words of wisdom, lets take all the kindness and support and most of all lets take all the love from buddys here and share with everybody…..no matter what struggles they may be having today.

God Bless and love you all!!!

Life is Crazy Busy!!!

Myspace Quotes Icons 05Good Afternoon to my BuddySlim Buddys!! Gosh I’ve missed being here sooooooooooo much!!! I appreciate all the boosters and notes checking on me  :)

Things have been so crazy in my life these past few days.  Trying to catch my breath!!

Saturday went well with my little sister Katelin….I picked her up at noon, we went to Taco Bell.  I picked a low calorie spicy chicken burrito.  From there we went to a special scapbooking store.  It was huge and 50 dollars later we left with a beautiful scrapbook and some supplies ready to fill with memories of our time together.  We will save things from certain visits, (like the zoo, restaurants, anywhere we can pick up some momentos) and fill the pages.  I’m excited about this, I’ve never done anything like this before, and I admit I’m not a crafty person.  But we’ll see, together we can do it!!!  After the store we couldn’t resist a stop at the local ice cream shop.  I was still good, didn’t get anything too special, just a small cone but YUMMY !!!! I love my ice cream!!  Katelin choose a Spongebob Squarepants ice cream…LOL!!! a girl after my own heart…I love the cartoon, so we are going to get along just fine!!!

I’ve been helping my daughter out a lot with the move and we had little Talan Sunday around noon.  We decided to keep him over night and I brought him home Monday late afternoon, just in time to meet my hubby and go for dinner.

We ate at a favorite of ours……….Logans Roadhouse.  I ordered the terriakyi chicken breast, grilled vegetable skewer (mushrooms, onions, zuchinni and tomatoes) and a nice house salad.  Very low calorie, healthy and so tasty  :)

Off to see Dad.  He will not be coming home tommorrow as expected :(  His left leg and foot are very swollen (edema) and his sugar is so out of whack :(   My heart breaks, but he is still very weak and God knows when the time is right.

I’m staying on plan almost always (cheated only a little)  and keep physically active everyday all day.  Watching the baby was probably the best workout I’ve had in ages!!! He’s such an active 2 year old.  He had me on the floor…up and down!!! walking outside, chasing him outside!!! We had so much fun.  I’ll get him again on Friday.  Can’t  get enough time with him…he is surely my sunshine!!!

Hope this blog finds everyone happy and healthy.  I’m going to try my best to catch up on blogs and see how my buddies are doing!!!

The Morals of Life

Good Friday Morning, got carried with the Hugs I guess L0L!!!!  I received a beautiful e-mail from a close friend of mine. I shared this with a dear friend  :)

I wanted to share with everyone here, but was unable to copy and paste. Been tring for 30 minutes now…guess it won’t work.

I picked out a part of the letter I really loved and wanted to leave the week with these kind words.

First off, thank you all for your advice and information on organic foods.  I’m learning more and more and as I become obessed with new information I feel more empowered :)  Thanks Shanna for the website, and thank you all for company names, opinions, and expericnes. It all helped my newfound challenge begin.  Hubby and I went shopping last night.

Earthbound Farm Organic:    Bagged Romaine Lettuce   2.99

                           Regular Romaine Lettuce  1.99

Grimmway Farms Bunny Luv Organic Carrots   99 cents

Green Giant Carrots     99 cents    no difference for carrots.

Also we found Organic Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing for $4.29.  I need to look further, as we usually use Fat Free Hidden Valley.  I glanced at the back of the organic bottle, and it seemed full of fat.  So is it less fat or less pesticides???????????? OMG!!! such a mystery, so much to learn still!!!

But I must admit I love it.  As long as I can stay interested, focused and motivated I will learn all I can and go from there.  I’ve learned so much just being at BuddySlim with all my kind and informative friends!!! Thank you all for being patient and kind with me, you are truly one of a kind!!!

So here goes (words to share from the mail)

The Moral of Life:

We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds.  Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath.

~~Today I wish you a day of ordinary miracles ~ a fresh pot of coffee you didn’t make yourself.

~~An unexpected phone call from an old friend

~~Green stoplights on your way to work

~~The fastest line at the grocery store

~~A good sing along song on the radio :)

~~Your key found right where you left them

~~The happiness to share with all around you :)

Faith sings in your heart, no matter what assaults your soul.

Lester Sumrall

Now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me; therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

Psalm 27:6

Organic Anyone?

pass it on commentsHappy Thursday Afternoon all you BuddySlim Buddys!!! Wow, feeling on top of the world this afternoon.  All of this eating healthy and exercising is finally paying off!!! I managed to fit into a pair of jeans I haven’t been able to wear in months.  I wasn’t able to breathe, but who cares!!!!!!!!!  LOL!!! I wore them all day…and the next time I wear them they will be comfortable….that is my mission in life right now :)

I’m doing some research on organic foods.  I know several of my buddys focus on all healthy “whole foods”, “organic” foods and as I watched Montal Williams today he did a show on “Living Well”  The segment today focused on food.

One speaker came on and talked about organic food.  The program I am currently on for my weight issues concentrates on organics as well.

I was just wondering if anyone had some input concerning organic foods,….maybe opinions on the taste?  is it that different?  Price?  seems to be higher.  Do you feel better eating organic foods?  Is it worth the extra cost?

I’ve bought a few organic items and really don’t see a difference in taste….so any input would be appreciated!!!

Hope everyone is having a great day…and I was very happy to see that Shanna blogged!!! I’ll be watching everyday Buttercup!!! :)
