Well here we are…back and running at BuddySlim!!!

Its Saturday morning here and we are getting ready to take the doggy in for his annual check up…”sigh”…he hates the car

I want to apologize to my buddys which I couldn't respond to or write back.  It was a bit frustrating, but Dr. Marc updated us throughout the day.  Thank you Dr. Marc!!

Aarrrggg,, its raining cats and dogs here.  Guess we desperately needed it as our lawns were turning brown.  I’m hoping to see some sunshine before the day is over

This weekend brings a Big Sister/Little Sister visit.  Katelin has decided since we treated her Mom for Mothers Day it would be only appropriate to treat her Dad (I agree 100%)  I won’t be back until the day after Fathers Day, sooooooooooooo she’s decided to celebrate early with him.  Tommorrow will be cake baking (in the shape of a hammer {pray for me..not sure how to pull this one off LOL}) and probably a homemade Fathers Day Card.  We haven’t really discussed all the details.

Last weekend we played Scrabble, Wii bowling, baseball, golf and some tennis.  We cooked brats and hot dogs on the grill.  She didn’t want to go home!!! LOL!!! Her mother actually called the home phone as we were on our way and asked “Did Katelin decide to move in”  LOL!!

We also have an appointement for the Toby dog to get his yearly update on shots, flea meds (for the kennel) and heartworm check….all to the fine tune of $125.00.  Its worth it…love my dog…love life….love you guys!!

Eat well…play nice….smile big….praise God….and exercise, exercise, exercise…until next time!!

Frustrated here.  I’m trying to post comments on blogs, and they just won’t go.  I hit submit, and nothing happens. 

Then the page says “done” at the bottom, and nothing has happened.  I’ve tried like  2 or 3 times per blog

Anyone else having these issues?  It  only lets me comment on certain blogs…Grrrrrr…………

Vacation is only 8 days away.  I’m feeling these feelings of anticipation, excitement, but this huge fear of all the food!!!! YIKES…HELP ME!!!! “Huge Sigh”

My mother in law is the best in the world, but she loves her food.  Life revolves around family and meals.  Every year my husband and I come home 20 pounds heavier Uggghhhh……

This year has to be different.  I know most people would say, “Jane, just make wise choices…”  but you see…..this girl Jane…LOVES FOOD!!!

My mother in law takes us out to the best of the best, has a huge pizza party (with the best pizza ever)  always orders this fancy cake (which we only get when we go there).  They center every family gathering around food.

I feel doomed :(  I feel afraid :(  I already feel like I’ve lost the fight

I need this vacation more now then in the past, but I also need my health more now then ever. 

Maybe I’ll just try to show my mother in law the healthy way???  We’ll see, it’ll be very interesting!!!

How do you all cope with these situations?  We will be visiting for 11 days and thats a long time!!!! YIKES!!!

Ok…any suggestions…ideas??? I’d love to here your input if you all have a minute.

Amazing this week is almost gone…..and I’m feeling on top of the world…YIPPEE!!!

Dad is doing great, I believe we have the perfect amount of insulin.  He’s eating like a bear, smiling like he used to, and telling the same stories he’s told over a thousand times in his lifetime..LOL!!!  Brother, sister-in-law, Hubby and I are working together like a team, just like we all should be.  We are playing fair, nice and without any fighting “Proud Grin”. God is Good….Life is Wonderful

My youngest son was having marital problems, but they are now friends and he has moved on.  He seems very happy….pretty stable…and continues to work hard at life.

My middle son is healing after his Memorial Dad ordeal, poor thing :(  I love that child so much.

Sweet baby Talan is happy, chubby, loves his Grumma and Pappy….LMAO!! my daughters pregnancy is going well….Talans Daddy had a nice birthday, got in some much loved fishing.

We are preparing for the BIG vacation to see my husbands 4 kids and brother, sister, mother and countless aunts and uncles…YAHOO!! can’t wait.  I’m beside myself with happiness  (can’t ya tell…hehehehe).

I’m eating pretty good.  Staying away from the bad foods.  Hurt my leg walking, so the treadmill has been at a distance the last couple of days.  I’ll be back on it in no time…I need it badly.

You know the kind I mean?  The crazy, nonstop “can’t believe it happened like this” kind of holiday????????? 

Dad comes home on Friday at around Noon from the St. Marys Rehab.  We are just tickled to have him home FINALLY.  The kids come, little Talan visits, and Dad just doesn’t seem to be quite “right”  Around 6:00 p.m. my sister in law calls and says please get over here NOW.  Hubby and I run over to see my father slumped over in the chair, looking unconscious, no color whatsoever, and unable to speak.

Here come the paramedic (at the end of the street, our angel) and all the Emergency vehicles fill our yard yet once again.  Off to the ER with Dad. 

Seems St. Marys had prescribed the wrong insulin, and Dads sugar had dropped completely to the bottom.  We almost lost him.

At the hospital until midnight…back home, sleep some, back Saturday morning 3 hours…home for a bit, back Saturday evening another 3 hours.  Sunday back at Noon, they are releasing him…YIPPEE!!! Home with Dad by 4:00 p.m.  Ok..so now…lets take a deep breath and start over.  Dads home, finally, he looks good.

Monday morning (Memorial Day) the phone rings.  Its my middle son…”Mom, could you and Alan please take me to the med center, I’ve been bit by something and my arm is swollen and I can’t even pick it up”  “Sure Jon, we are on our way”  HUGE SIGH….off we go, get Jon, go to Med center. 

Find out the poor kid has an absessed lymph node and it has to be cut and drained.  It needs to be biopsied and sent out just in case.  3 hours later…off to get prescriptions, 1 hour later we are dropping him back at home.  Left at 10:00 a.m., got home around 4:00 p.m.

We go next door to see Dad doing good.  But…………….. yess…………….. believe  this now…..he wants a shower.  And the only person he will allow to help is my husband.  OMG…we are so exhausted, our grass in the yard has not been cut in weeks, it looks like a field.

So my husband, the saint that he is, just smiles and helps Dad try to shower.  Dad is just to weak, so its just a sponge bath.

7:30, Dads settled, grass is cut and we are home for the end of the Memorial Dad weekend. 

Sure hope everyones holiday was a bit more relaxing!!! I can’t wait until our REAL vacation comes on June 5th LOL!!!

The eating went really well this weekend, no major mess ups, I’m still shying away from the scale for now.  Love you all…bless you and stay happy!!

You make me happy…..when skys are gray!!!!!  You know the song.  Thats my grandson Talans song  LOL!! I sing, he smiles…or in all reality he is probably laughing AT me because I can’t sing worth a darn….LOL!!

But geez I love that little man.  He is the SUNSHINE in my life for sure.  Hubby and I stopped over last night (it was Talans daddys birthday) and spent some time with them.  Mom was working :( 

Talan is now discovering the English language to its fullest.  He can just about tell you anything, some takes a little decifering but overall he’s got it down

I’m now called Grumma  and my hubby is Pappy  LOL!!!! Its hilarious to hear him talk.  When I laugh he laughs….can’t wait to get some special time with him next week.  He will be going to Granda number 2 this weekend….lucky her

Dads coming home in just a couple of hours.  Its gonna be stressful but in a happy sort of way if that makes any sense.

Looking forward to the Memorial Day weekend.  Anxious to get our gardens planted, spend Saturday afternoon with my little sis…have Dad right next door and most of all have 3 full days with my wonderful husband.

Eating shouldn’t be too much of a challenge.  We’ve learned some healthy meals on the grill, and I’ll keep lots of fresh vegtables on hand also!!

P.S., I have some catching up to do with my e-mail.  To my special buddys that I haven’t written back…I will, I promise!! things will hopefully settle down and give me more time to write back.

A big hug to all my buddys here at BuddySlim!! Its been awhile “sigh”….way to busy here!! LOL!! my head is spinning.  The eating isn’t going so well :(  alot of emotional stress snacking so I’m disappointed in myself for that.

But……….now that I have some good news to share I’m going to straighten up and fly right again!! LOL!!

Today, Dad came home for a visit.  The physical therapist came along to evaluate.  He should be released home tommorrow for good.  I balled like a baby when I saw him in his chair in HIS living room.  God is good.  Dad is so fraile, he’s lost 20 pounds, but its time to come home

I hope everyone is doing well, I’ve missed my friends here but now I hope to be online more often.  We have a satellite internet connection and have also bought a laptop..YIPPEE!!!

Life is so full of blessings….one of which is having BuddySlim to come home to.  A place to feel comfortable and not to be judged or criticized.  A safe haven to share stories and hear others stories and journeys.  Somewhere you can just be yourself

I’m so blessed to have become a Big Sister to Katelin.  She is “considered special education” and let me tell you this girl is SPECIAL.  She has touched my heart in a way I can’t explain.  I’m amazed at the love her parents have for her, and I feel with enough encouragement and support Katelin will find her way through this journey in life.  It won’t ever be easy for her, but with some guidance, and lots of love she’ll shine right out there!!

I have so much fun watching all the kids in Special Olympics shine on their big bowling day.  Yup, we were there at 8:00 a.m.  And Yup again, nothing was going to tempt me.  I enjoyed watching them bowl and food was the farthest thing from my mind :)  but not little Katelin (well shes not so little, and she loves to eat) 

 The bowling ended around 10:30 with Katelin coming in 2nd for her team.  She did really well and had fun,  but once it was over all she wanted was lunch.  So off to Subway we went!! Aaahhhaaa my favorite!! and I knew I could find a healthy choice.

The day couldn’t have been any better…fun for all. 

We went to see Dad, and he was in his wheelchair waiting at the front door for us..LOL!!! he was glued to the front window with this big ole shitty grin on his face!! GOD IS GOOD!!!  That was enough to make life so worth living.  To see Dad out of that bed and smiling was priceless.

He has been made this huge turnaround and we can’t figure it out but we sure are thanking God!! Hoping he will be home this week, god knows he is working hard enough.

My scale has sadly gone up 2 pounds.  Not sure what is going on, but I’m gonna just get real serious here.  My vacation is just around the corner and the temptations will be endless.  I have a wonderful mother-in-law, but eating is her favorite thing!!!  She loves food…I LOVE FOOD…OMG!! I’m going to need alot of help!!! but I’ll get through it.

Ok…babbled enough…lots of catching up to do on the blogs.  Hope everyone had a healthy happy weekend!!

I’m soooooooo excited about the weekend Buddys

I will be picking up my little sis Katelin at 7:00 a.m. tommorrow morning.  We have to be at the bowling alley by 8:00 a.m. for the special olympic bowling tournament!!!  I’ve always wanted to be a part of the special olympics and here we go.  Isn’t God amazing, he had a hand in this

Don’t think I told you about last weekend?  If I did, sorry I’m repeating but I wanted to share what fun we had.

I picked her up at her house around noon on Saturday (day before Mothers Day).  We stopped at the store and picked a Mothers Day Card, and a picture frame.

I let her pick out a boxed cake and canned frosting.  She make a cake (all by herself) and frosted it.  We picked a background for her picture and she pasted it into the frame, then her school picture on that.  It turned out beautiful (again let her do it herself)

So for Mothers Day, she baked her mother a cake, made her a picture in a frame and picked out a Mothers Day Card!! I was really proud of her, she did well and seemed to enjoy herself.  We ended our 4 hour visit with a few games of Wii bowling!!!

Now on to this healthy journey we are all on.  I’m going to be put in some stressful eating situations tommorrow morning.  The bowling event last until noon, and I’ll be STARVED!!! LOL!!!  So I’ll keep my bottle of water close at hand and resist all temptations!!
