Both Meetings a Success

Diner HELP!!! My new little sister wants Taco Bell!!!!!!!!!! OMG!! I tried to suggest Big Boy (has great salads and soups) or maybe even McDonalds (also has salad choices), but she wants TACO BELL!! I’ve always avoided this restaurant because I assumed there menu choices were less then healthy :(

But I did research and Badda Boom Badda Bing What A Wonderful Thing…introducing….The New Fresco Menu.  9 choices all under 400 calories.  Saved by the Fresco menu…LOL!!!

So the meeting went well.  My littles name is Katelin, she is 12 years old and in special education.  She does well in most subjects, but isn’t fond of reading and could use some one on one mentoring in that subject.

She loves board games, Hannah Montanna, High School Musical, movies, cooking and riding her bike.

On a sad note she has many allergies (controlled by shots) and asthma.   She isn’t able to be very active because of the asthma, but mom has agreed to give me an inhaler to keep at all times.

Big Brother/Big Sisters requires meeting your Little once a week with a minimum of 2 to 3 hours per visit.  We will decide what we would like to do.

I asked Katelin if she wanted to have lunch and maybe we would go swing at the park and discuss a list of things we wanted to do.  So here you see comes Taco Bell LOL!!

Its all good, I’m thrilled…can’t wait.  Saturday at noon is the big day :)

Had Dads meeting with the doc, nurse, therapists and social worker.  They all agreed he was making progress but needed more time in rehab to build strength.  Dad even agreed, so the tentative date is May 7th.  All prayers are greatly appreciated as Dad is really getting tired of being away from home.

On the healthy eating front, I’ve done pretty good.  Sadly enough I’m not seeing much of a loss which is discouraging, but I’ll hang in there, certainly not giving up :)

Hope everyone is staying on track and enjoying each and every day.  Love you guys!!

All good stuff Jane! Sounds like you are right in your element being a Big Sister to Katelin, and I’m looking forward to hearing all about your adventures together…

Glad Dad is not fighting the rehab any more. Seems like he finally figured out that unless he cooperated, he wasn’t going to get to come home. Those dads can be so stubborn sometimes, eh? LOL

Steady wins the race on healthy eating, so just keep at it my friend. I NEED you here to push me along too, k?

    Big HUGGGGGGGGGGGGS,

That is something I hope to do someday. You have such a good heart!
I’m not seeing any results on the scale either but knowing I”m making the right choices helps me feel better too.

Not seeing any losses over here Jane so I feel ya. But it seems you have some good balance going on and you sound so happy. Keep it up! :) I love Taco Time (no Taco Bell here anymore) because of the beans…lol Fiber! Enjoy your time with your new Sister. *hugs*

Wow…. could I be depressed because I am not helping people as much as I use to? Must think more on this… Thanks.
