Both Meetings a Success

Diner HELP!!! My new little sister wants Taco Bell!!!!!!!!!! OMG!! I tried to suggest Big Boy (has great salads and soups) or maybe even McDonalds (also has salad choices), but she wants TACO BELL!! I’ve always avoided this restaurant because I assumed there menu choices were less then healthy :(

But I did research and Badda Boom Badda Bing What A Wonderful Thing…introducing….The New Fresco Menu.  9 choices all under 400 calories.  Saved by the Fresco menu…LOL!!!

So the meeting went well.  My littles name is Katelin, she is 12 years old and in special education.  She does well in most subjects, but isn’t fond of reading and could use some one on one mentoring in that subject.

She loves board games, Hannah Montanna, High School Musical, movies, cooking and riding her bike.

On a sad note she has many allergies (controlled by shots) and asthma.   She isn’t able to be very active because of the asthma, but mom has agreed to give me an inhaler to keep at all times.

Big Brother/Big Sisters requires meeting your Little once a week with a minimum of 2 to 3 hours per visit.  We will decide what we would like to do.

I asked Katelin if she wanted to have lunch and maybe we would go swing at the park and discuss a list of things we wanted to do.  So here you see comes Taco Bell LOL!!

Its all good, I’m thrilled…can’t wait.  Saturday at noon is the big day :)

Had Dads meeting with the doc, nurse, therapists and social worker.  They all agreed he was making progress but needed more time in rehab to build strength.  Dad even agreed, so the tentative date is May 7th.  All prayers are greatly appreciated as Dad is really getting tired of being away from home.

On the healthy eating front, I’ve done pretty good.  Sadly enough I’m not seeing much of a loss which is discouraging, but I’ll hang in there, certainly not giving up :)

Hope everyone is staying on track and enjoying each and every day.  Love you guys!!

A Year Older A Few Pounds Lighter

Colorful SmileyIts Monday morning :)   A new day, a new beginning!!

Did everyone have a fun weekend?  Friday evening was good, we went to visit Dad, then off to Subway for a birthday sub.  A 6 inch Sub Club on Wheat bread was under 400 calories, I had researched it.  We were tired and didn’t feel like battling the Friday out to dinner crowds so came home and had 1 birthday drink and a sub.  Off to bed :)

Saturday was sooooooooooo boring, uneventful…my fasting day.  Lots of water and a few healthy snacks.  Hubby did the same as to support me, what a sweetheart he is!!

Sunday was non stop.  We visited a new church right here in town.  We’ve always wanted to go, but the old church was so packed there was never any parking.  The new church is beautiful, the pastor is only 42 and we felt right at home :)

The first service at the newly built church had 682 people attending (just to give you an idea how large the congregation is).  We will go next week again.

After church, home for a change of clothes and off to my daughters new home.  Baby Talan is still at the other grammas while the kids move, miss him :(  There house needs a little fixing, but in no time they’ll make it “home”  They did with the last house they rented.  My daughter looked so tired, is hard being pregnant and moving.  We gave lots of hugs, love and encouragement.  Stopped at the grocery store and bought them some grocerys to get started with.  With gas prices, they used their grocery money for gas “sigh”

Left my daughters and straight to visit Dad.  All is good, he might be coming home the end of this week :)

Hope everyone has a fantastic Monday!!!

Passed the no food test

Monkey HiWell I did it “sigh”  Yesterday was going to be a challenge, and challenge it was.  With this new eating program I have to take 1 day a week and drink a special protein/vitamin drink and drink 8 glasses of water or more throughout the day.

I am allowed healthy snacks, such as celery, tomatoes, apples slices, things such as this. I’ve done this before, actually made it through the entire weekend last weekend, but this time decided to slow it down a bit.  I’ve lost considerably and the inches are coming off.

I admit I feel better then I ever have, especially given my age and heart condition.

Sooooooooooooo my happy news is I made it through yesterday!!!  I woke up feeling happy and satisfied ready to tackle another day.  I’m watching the sunrise and I know it will be a beautiful day.

We are trying a new church this morning and I’m so excited and anxious  Service isn’t until 10:30 and its only 7:15, so that gives me time for a good walk on the treadmill and a nice hot shower :)

I wish everyone a blessed Sunday…stay happy and positive in everything you do.

Nutrition News to Share :)

Tweety LoveAnd how is everyones Saturday Afternoon going so far?  Mine is dragging on :(  The weather here is windy and cold and I just can’t seem to get warmed up.  We had no special plans for the day, hubbyout changing the oil in the cars and I’m checking out my e-mail :)

I ran across this newsletter with some interesting nutrition facts I thought I would share, I found it kind of interesting.

Sending love and happy thoughts to all my buddys this fine weekend :)

If you Stumble and I did Big Time

TurtleThen just get back up.  Don’t continue stumbling and making mistakes…isn’t that what “they” say????????  What a day yesterday.  Everything started out picture perfect with my early morning walk.

Picked up my hubby at 4:00, off to see Dad.  Dad was grumpy again…that will bring me right down and tempt me to eat and drink away the pain.

We stopped for dinner at one of our favs, I had already decided on soup and salad.  Can’t go wrong if you pick the yummy homeade vegetable soup right?  Well, dummy me choose the chicken strip dinner (cuz it was on sale) with soup and salad. OMG..fried chicken strips.  Talk about the wrong choice :(

I know it was the worst choice :(  I came home and ate 94% fat free popcorn (good choice) but then found some red licorice…bad bad…then ate 1/2 cheese sandwich on wheat bun.  WHATS WRONG WITH ME???????????

I went to bed almost in tears.  I went way over my calories allowed and i’ve worked so hard to stay on plan.

Tonight we are supposed to go out for a celebration dinner, but its not gonna happen if I have any say.  This also was supposed to be our big weekend… we celebrate anniversary and birthdays, but things change.  We’ll just hang low here at home.

I’ll focus on Dads getting better and look forward to our vacation June 5th!!!

Sorry I’m not so upbeat as usual, I hope everyone has a wonderful day and a blessed weekend

20 Down, 40 To Go

Treadmill We are almost there…the weekend!!! YIPEE!!!

My focus for now is the exercise.  I think I’ve got the food under control.  My confidence is soaring as I see the inches come off and the scale drop.  I’ll do an official weigh in on Monday morning.  In fact I’m planning on having my husband hide the scale until then, as I find myself weighing 2 - 3 times a night when I get up to go to the bathroom…OBBSESSED I WOULD SAY!!! LOL!!!

By 6:30 this morning I’ve walked 20 mins on the treadmill.  I plan to walk twice more at 20 mins a shot and make it a total of 1 hour for the day :)

It seems to be harder to get moving, not sure why.  I’m sleeping better and eating better, so overall feeling on top of the world.  These legs just don’t wanna move!!!

Sending everyone wishes for a healthy, happy day.  Love you guys!!!

Just a Little Love Story~~

Hearts GlittersA most happy Wednesday to all today.  What a beautiful day, sun is shining, the flowers are beginning to bloom.  Finally we are seeing GREEN grass!!!! Yes Life is Good :)

1998–my marriage was ending.  18 years of trying to make it work with a alcoholic, drug addicted husband that hid in the basement.  He claimed to love me and his children, but couldn’t step up as a “Father” or “Husband” I had given it my all, and it was time to get out before anymore damage was done to my children.

I was introduced to the internet/chat rooms.  WALLA!!! Badda Boom Badda Bing What A Wonderful Thing   L0L!!! People, people, who listen, don’t judge, or criticize.  People who accept me for me :)

In March 1998, as usual I would chat at my favorite site after the children were all tucked into bed (husband worked 2nd shift)  I had succumbed to drinking after fighting so hard not to fall in the trap my husband was living.  Each night after a few beers I would sign off  “Help I’ve fallen and I can’t get up”  My friends new that was my exit line…but this particular night something was different.

This name appeared on the screen, a name I’d never seen before  “Toby”  My screen name was “Britta” (named after a fav. DJ of mine at the time)  Toby says “Here Britta please take my hand, I’ll help you up”  Something happened at that moment…I felt something deep inside.  We talked for hours that night and I knew there was something special.

Tobys wife had just gone through a mid-life crisis and asked him to leave.  She did not want to be married anymore…this is after a 18 year marriage and 4 children later.

I had such a strong faith in God (still do today) and I knew God had a hand in this meeting.

A few months later we were together, divorced from our original marriages and happily in love together :)

Today is our 5th Wedding Anniversary…A Very Happy Day for us Both.  We lived together for 5 years to make sure this was Gods plan. It surely was, as I am the happiest, luckiest girl alive!! Just wanted to share a bit of my happiness with my special buddys!

Ok…on another note….HOWS the eating going buddys?????????????????  I did excellent last night.  I’m feeling like a new person already.  I have this unlimited energy and I don’t know what to do with it..LOL!! Can’t wait for little Talan to get moved!!! I’ll probably be taking him every other day!!!

Wishing all here on BuddySlim a wonderful successful day.  Remember there are so many others out there facing challenges and obstacles. But One day at a Time!!! Baby Steps if needed.  Have Faith Buddys!! Love you Guys!!

The Day After

1a.gif

Good Morning Buddys!! Yesterday was a fun filled day…non stop with the baby and Dads first Dr. visit out of the rehab facility.  Was exhausted last night, slept like a baby :)

As I was getting up to go to bed, I felt so sore.  All my leg muscles were tense and aching. As I thought about “why would I hurt like this, was it the flu”?   LOL….Heck

no!!! I was playing for 6 straight hours with Talan!!! LOL!!!

He says Grandma clear as day now, and all day it was “Grandma sit chair”  or “Grandma sit floor”  Well it was the floor that did my legs in.  I used muscles I haven’t used in a long time!!! But its all good, I feel great this morning and look forward to their move which will put them only 15 minutes away..YIPPEE!!!

Dads appointment at the Orthopedic Doctor went well.  My brother and I both went along for support.

Eating is going absolutely wonderful.  Stayed on plan, except for a little popcorn, no salt and some artificial butter spray.  Low calories, I just have to learn h0w to get past this night snacking.  Its about to do me in …Can’t have that!!!

Making Progress

Myspace Quotes 10Today truly is the first day of the rest of my life :)

I’ve done so well this weekend, I’m soooooooooooo proud of me!!! Go ME!!! LOL!!

I stayed on track 100%, pretty much 2 fasting days with lots of water and a little healthiness going on!!  I needed to jumpstart this weight loss and I’ve accomplished exactly what I wanted “proud smile”

I feel extremely energized and full of life!! Better then ever.  Today I’ll drink my 2 protein shakes and we have a healthy dinner all planned out.  We’ll have a lean sirloin steak on the grill, baked sweet potatoe (I’ll only eat 1/2)  big salad with fat free dressing, and acorn squash without butter this time :)

I’ve learned to look at food in a totally different way.  Today will also begin the walking routine.  So important to keep walking! (right Tatiana)!!!!

I can’t stay long, I have Talan with me right now.  He’s trying to sit on my lap and my time with him is important, so must sign off as he is trying to type…OMG!!!

I’ll be back later to read blogs and catch up on mail :)

A Beautiful Sunday To All

Attitude Quote GraphicsGood Morning Buddys!! Hope your weekend is going well, mine has been just perfect :)

Saw my daughter and son in law and my sweet baby Talan yesterday for the day.  They came with laundry (5 loads…eeekkksss).  We spent the day together laughing and enjoying each others company.

Little Talan spent most of the time in the garage with his Grandpa :)  He played with tools and watched Grandpa as he tuned up the tractor for the season.  We have an older tractor out front and Talan has claimed it to be his  LOL!!! He sat on it alot of the day and just pretended to be driving!!!! God I love that child.  Never knew how strong a love could be until I had a grandson.  Children are so loved, but this love is just different :)  My daughter is expecting in Oct, so we are all hoping for a girl.  Doesn’t matter to me…God has a plan in all that!!

Hope everyone is able to follow their healthy eating plans this weekend.  I know its hard with all the temptations.  I’ve done something different.  Yesterday I focused on drinking more water then usual.  I actually felt better.  On Monday I will drink my protein shake and have a healthy well balanced dinner, with healthy snacks throughout the day.  I’m excited and feel this time I will make my goals!!

Love you one and all, hope your Sunday is Blessed.  See you Monday Morning!!
