Journal of a SouthBeacher

Eminem.jpgPicked this quote up online and wanted to share it.  How true it is.  We have to live today to its fullest.  Make as many healthy, happy choices as we can.  Love each other completely, never go to bed angry and always lend a helping hand :)

So here we are day 8 on Phase I South Beach.  I find if I have my meals planned ahead things run more smoothly.  Its when there is no plan I seem to stumble and fall :(

Today (this morning) is 6 ounces V8 juice (which I enjoy completely)  egg beaters with some diced ham and fat free cheese (which I’ve learned to enjoy)

Snack will be lowfat mozerella cheese stick and a handful of almonds

Dinner will be ground sirloin patty grilled with diced onion, diced pickles, leaf lettuce and tomatoe.  I’ll open a can of green beans to go along with.

Throughout the day will be 4 to 5 glasses of 8 ounces of water with maybe a 6 ounce glass of skim milk for dinner.

Snack after dinner will be celery sticks and cut cucumber.

I’ll say one thing about this diet, it is getting harder to be spontaneous.  It is so very rigid and I’m afraid when this is all said and done I will start to dislike meat Uuugggggghhhhhh.

But on the happy positive note I will lose the first large amount of weight on Phase I and more on Phase II, and I’m praying by that time my eating habits and outlook on eating will be all different.

Ok…lovely buddys of mine, its time for the treadmill!!! I’ll watch 30 mins of Regis and Kelly while I get my exercise in!!

Jo–I’m here…trying to hang in here, sounds like you are doing AWESOME!!

Faith is not what you see. Faith is what you know to be true from the Word.

We also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.

It is sometimes to be spontaneous while eating the SB way but with time, you will learn that you can sometimes be spontaneous. keep hanging in there. Thank you for your comment on my blog, brought tears to my eyes. :)

I meant to say it is sometimes “hard” to be spontaneous….I need to edit!

Love the quote! It IS so true… hard to do sometimes… but when we strive for it every day, life is so much better, eh?

What you are feeling is why SB Phase I only lasts 2 weeks. Jeez, what if we had to eat that way all the time? hehe… When you get to Phase II, your choices become much much broader and it will be a lot more fun to plan your meals. Variety IS the spice of life!

You’re doing SO well Jane. Keep up the good work!

    Huggggggggggggggggs,
    Shan

Question: how much does it cost to be on the south beach diet.. or does it. I would love to get on something like that.

Girl, I’ve come to the conclusion that we have to get creative on this diet. TRY, I urge you to TRY the recipes in the book. I tried the veggie quiche and they were not bad, plus they got great reviews at the office. I also made turkey picadillo yesterday, which was a hit with the boys…today I tried chicken broccoli (the boys enjoyed it, I didn’t so much). I have found that the key is to try new things. Today I discovered a new dessert…sugarfree jello with fatfree coolwhip—yummylicious!! Hang in there lady, YOU can do it, but I urge you to TRY those recipes in the book!

missed you yesterday on this - how did it go? did you follow the plan? love the quote by the way. everything really is unknown! i love to hear how you are pushing forward even when the plan seems a little limiting. sounds like it really opens up in phase 2. this is kind of like a detox or something. you can do it! how many more days? less than you have already done, yes? GO JANE GO!!!
