Back to Normal…Is there such a thing?

Peoples Gifs Images - MySpace Layouts, MySpace GraphicsThings are settling down here a bit.  Dad was released from the hospital (at his demand (not  very nicely either) on Tuesday morning. I received the call at 6:45 a.m.

We had expected coming around Wednesday at the earliest, and probably would have been Thursday for his own good, we needed the pneumonia to be gone but its still there somewhat.

So we had emergency transport (since he hasn’t walked the entire time in the hospital) and had Airway Oxygen come and set up a nebulizer.  You see he is still sick and needed to stay in the hospital, but I certainly understand how he felt.

The most important part is now his home care.  I believe he’s NOT ready to be with my Mom, he was just so sick he wasn’t talking like himself.

Soooooooooooo, believe it or not I’ve maintained my weight, even dropped 1 pound.  My husband has done fantastic!!! We were eating out everynight, whether at the cafeteria in the hospital or at a restaurant.  We tried to focus on healthy choices (although I’m a cheater sometimes…LOL)

Sad to say we haven’t been to the Y since everything started but thats ok, hopefully we’ll have more time now.

My brother and sister in law have agreed (or really have no choice) to help in the home care.  Heck they live in my fathers house, rent free and have for over 3 years now.  Its about time they do something right?  They moved in to supposedly “HELP” out…yeah right, whatever.  They said “well the house will eventually be ours, we might as well start enjoying it”…how crazy is that?  Anyways this is how it is and God has given me amazing strength though this whole ordeal.

If there is a happy side to every sad story, the happy side is Alan and I finally have more time together!! YIPPEE!!! We still visit Dad daily, today I cooked at his house his favorite, eggs, bacon and toast.  We have a visiting nurse, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and a Home Health Aide coming in for at least 1 month, more if needed.

I’m feeling positive, one day at a time.  Looking forward to getting back to our walking.  I hope I can somehow catch up on all my buddys blogs.  Thank you all for your little notes and encouragement, I surely needed it…Love you all!!

God does not give victory over the world just to a select few.  He has given overcoming victory to every person who believes in him!

Glad to hear things are calming down for you a bit, I was thinking of you! Keep up the great attitude of taking things one day at a time. Good for you!

Okay, SOOOOOOOO please to hear that dad is doing better. They CAN get crotchety when they are sick, can’t they? LOL I’m so glad you are there for him. And I truly hope and pray that brother and sister in law pitch in to help. I know firsthand how draining it can be on your energy to care for the elderly, especially when they are so sick. The professionals coming in to help will be a Godsend. They sure were for my dad after he came home from his stroke.

I so happy your back I could just spit (in a good way… Texas thing I guess LOL).

I hope in the midst of all this that you will not forget to take time for taking care of YOU, okay? Tell Alan that I said thank you for being a wonderful supportive husband during all this and then tell him that I said to give you a backrub.

    Hugggggggggggggggggggggggs,
    Shan

Hi sweetheart - so glad Dad is doing better even if he is not 100% yet. Sounds like you know that will happen. The care you have lined up will be wonderful and hopefully bro and sis-in-law WILL step up! That’s so great that you and hubby are so partnered in healthy choices right now. You will be back to the Y soon!!!!! Congrats on 1 lb and keep taking care of YOU while you take care of everyone else :)

I’m glad to hear dad is doing better Janet, your faith and prayers were obviously heard. Those are good news indeed. Little by little things will settle in and you will regain some “normalcy” in your life, whatever “normal” is. Do you know what normal is? ‘Cause I can’t figure it out for the life of me! LOL!

So glad dad is better, and congrats on your loss!! You are doing so well thru all this, don’t forget to take care of yourself, ok?

Well some people do have nerve, I will say that. But I believe things level out eventually, if that makes sense. You and Allan are doing great under the circumstances so keep it up. Good choices more often and then not and then you still have to live a little ;) Yesterday I lived a lot, but it was my 32nd B-day….lol Back with the good choices though, my promise to me and my health.

Have a great weekend Jane *HUGS*

Jane, Glad Dad is doing better! I’m impressed that you’ve dropped a pound with all the stress and the eating out. I’m jealous. You’re amazing! XO Ellen

So glad to hear things are looking up. I hope brother and wife decide to earn their keep! Seems as though one person in each family is the designated care giver. Be wonderful if everyone would pitch in and help, but…. Take care of yourself darlin’ and God be with you. Love, Marge
