Letter Q: One of the Best!

Good Morning to all my buddys!!!! Today is FRIDAY!!! YIPPEE!!! Beautiful sunny day here in Michigan, very cold but the sun is shining through.

I did 25 minutes on the treadmill yesterday and managed to eat healthy all day….YEAH!!  Today I’m still focused and determined.  I want to warn you there is someone on here

calling themselves “Nutrition Patrol”  so BE CAREFUL!!!! LOL!!! She’ll catch you red handed if you are making unhealthy choices…LOL!!!  be on your best behavior, You’ve been warned..LOL!!!!

Physical Therapy at 1:00 today….”sigh”….not the highlight of my day.  The office I go to is right behind McDonalds, and Burger King is just down the road.

But I have a plan in mind already.  I’ll have a healthy turkey sandwich before I go then I won’t be tempted!!!  Always be prepared if possible!!!

Ok…Letter Q,  one of the best yet in my opinion…here we go!!

Alphabet Soup for the Soul

Letter Q:  Quest:  Be open in your quest to do God’s will in your life.  Always have a beginner’s mind.  In the beginner’s mind there are many options, varations, and possibilities.  But in the expert’s mind there are few.

Morning Exercise

Emoticon - Wink Good Morning!!! I’ve learned from a buddy here that morning exercise is better for you! It gets the metabolism going early in the day and keeps it going.  Remember any exercise is good…anytime of the day, but morning is the best…YIPPEE!! I’m learning new everyday….this is good.

Yesterday afternoon I picked up my daughter at work (she works in dietary in a nursing home) and picked up my sweet grandson Talan from daycare.  We went out for dinner, celebrated Angelas 26th birthday which is actually today, went to Meijers and then I came home.  Exhausted!!! but we had fun. She continues to lose weight and is looking beautiful.  She always has, but losing the weight is good for  her.

Ready for the letter?  Its a long one…LOL..so get ready?? set??

Alphabet Soup for the Soul

Letter P:  Priorities: Strive to know what is truly important in life and you will have few regrets.  In 1988, actress Diane Venora shocked her agent and friends when she announced she was quitting show business.  At the time she had just been voted best supporting actress by the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle and had signed a three-picture, million-dollar deal.  The first was to be shot on location in Paris.  However, her daughter, Madzia, then 8 years old, refused to go with her mother for the shooting.  Madzia, who is partially deaf from a degenerative nerve condition, was subject to panic attacks.  In order to help her daughter, Venora quit acting and took a local teaching job paying thousands less then she earned as an actress.  Venora remained home with her daughter for five years.  As Madzia’s emotional problems eased, Venora was able to resume her acting career.

Do we all have our priorities in order?  Hmmm, something to think about isn’t it.  But remember we must take care of ourselves in order to take care of those around us.  I’m learning this lesson, and its been a tough lesson to learn.  Hugs all around buddys…Have a safe…healthy…happy day ok?

In for a Minute

Good day so far.  Woke up…said thank you for another beautiful day.  Checked my blood sugars, it was 112, could be better but its ok.  Let doggies out, checked e-mail and getting ready to get on treadmill.  Wanted to get the Alphabet soup letter in for the day.

Alphabet Soup for the Soul

Letter O:  Overcome: “Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it,” noted Helen Keller.  Be an overcomer.

Have a great and healthy day buddys.  Sending hugs all around!!!

Feeling kinda fat and wrinkled!!!

fatty baby

Now if this isn’t the most adorable picture.  Almost so ugly it becomes cute!!! LOL!!! I’m feeling a big bloated today, thought this picture was fitting!!!!

Physical Therapy…day 1….Yeeekss….3 x’s a week x’s 3 weeks.  9 visits…nice therapist named Ann.  Shes expecting her first baby end of May..she’ll make the best momma ever!! Shes very kind and patient.  I’l learned some exercises to do at home…I also need to reposition everything on my desk.  Seems I’m straining my back and shoulders on the right side.

I’m going to get on the treadmill now…even if for only 15 minutes.  A little each day right!!

Thanks buddys for all your kind words and support these past few days especially.  I’m starting to feel somewhat better.  I asked Amber how she was doing….shes very religious and is close with God.  Her response was “God wasn’t ready for me to be a mother yet”  Made me cry…oh don’t you love menopause!! The mood swings are just about killing me!!!! LOL!!

Ok..letter of the day

Alphabet Soup for the Soul

Letter N:  Nurture your own faith.  Nurture the growing faith in others.  Faith is the antidote to life’s fears.  Fear says, “I can’t”; faith says, “I can.” Fear weakens; faith empowers. Fear sickens; faith heals. Fear makes us weak; faith makes us strong.

One of my most favorite letters so far.  How fitting for today!!  hugs for all…smile…do something nice for someone….remember how much YOU are loved.

Ever wonder why?

I know we are not supposed to question our faith and Gods plan in life but I’m having a really rough time today.

My son and daughter in law lost their first child.  Amber was only a couple of months along, life was good.  They both are handling it so well.  I’m the one having a rough time.  I couldn’t stop crying, and everytime I think of it I’m in tears.   With the blink of an eye everything changed, just like my heart attack a few years ago.

If my mom were alive today she would hug and comfort me then say “Jane things happen for a reason, sometimes we don’t understand, but its all for a reason”  Others would say God knew what he was doing???  I’m doing my best to remain faithful..but wow it hurts.  And wow I miss my mom so much :(

My other buddy here who has gone through the same thing a few weeks ago, I really really can understand your pain now.  I’m so sorry.

Ok, now I received a call from the doctors.  The blood work taken for possibly more damage to my heart and heart function came back with a 403.  Normal is from 0 - 99.  That was a scare but they reassured me since my heart is damaged already the number is quite normal for me.  I was sad to hear my heart functions at 25-30%  Before the last hospital visit it was around 45%.  Doesn’t add up??  Was there that much more damage with the last episode?  so many questions…..

As far as the blood glucose, they cancelled that test?  WHY???? I can’t believe it, I had 2 high blood tests and they decided to cancel?  I have to call my primary doctor about that one.  I’m tired of having blood drawn “sigh”  but I need to know if I’m diabetic or not.

Now the weight gain…staying about the same.  Physical therapy for my neck will begin tommorrow..yes yes yes.  I’ll be happy to get rid of this pain in my neck..LOL!! literally!!!

Dads foot doctor appt was very discouraging this morning.  Last visit he said we’d probably be done in about 2 months.  Today he says 3 - 6 months..YIKES…cmon now.  Its 50 minutes each way, its winter and the roads tend to be bad here.  He wants to see dad every 10 - 14 days.  Dad had an open sore on his foot and didn’t say anything.  It went to far and he finally told me.  Thank God they didn’t have to amputate his foot.  Had he waited much longer that probably would have been the outcome.  So ok…I’m finding things to be thankful for.

Went to Schullers Books.  Kama and Jo, no it isn’t Robert Schuller (whom I love also)  but just a beautiful book store here in Grand Rapids.  Dad picked up his new 2008 World Almanac, and he bought me a Websters Medical Dictionary which I’ll  use once employed.

My classes are going well.  Chapter One quiz was 94%  Chapter Two quiz 92%  Chapter Three is all grammar, punctuation, editing, etc…..reminds me of high school…only sad part is my brain isn’t NEARLY AS SHARP…OMGoodness I’m getting old.

Ok…my healthy choice for dinner will be one slice of Turkey and a big salad.  Probably throw a clementine in and a glass of skim milk.  Everyone else will have leftovers (consisting of stuffing, mashed potatoes, turkey/gravy)

Now that I’ve babbled endlessly, its time for Alphabet Soup.

Alphabet Soup for the Soul

Letter M  Mistakes:  You get to make mistakes.  Mistakes are a fact of life.  Forgive yourself.  Ask God to forgive you.  Ask others to forgive you. Then move on.

Silly picture, had to share!!

cat dog happy Are we having fun yet??? Its Sunday evening, I hate to see the weekend go so quickly.  My poor husband sat at the computer most of the day trying to install the new program for part 2 of my medical transcriptionist course…”sigh”….no luck.

Will have to call into the school tommorrow and see what the problem is.  This is part 2, the actual dictation part.

Oh well, I’m working on healthy menus to start the week.  I’ll be at the footdoctors with Dad in the morning, then breakfast and Schullers Books.  But I’ll be back to check on my Buddys.

Hugs to everyone!!!

Good Sunday Morning Buddys

Good Morning Buddys!  Hope everyones weekend is going well.  Yesterday was a fun filled day with my husband.  We went shopping around noon, stopped at a nice restaurant called Russes picked up some groceries and back home to make dinner for dad.The week to come will be busy…Dr’s, Physical Therapy, School Work and the biggest day will be Thursday when my daughter turns 26.  YIKES that makes me old.  But were both excited, we’ll go out for lunch and I already have her gifts.  I’ll take her shopping and let her pick out some clothes because I know things at their house is so tight.  I’ll get to see my sweet Grandson…Aaaaahhhh…thank you God for that!!Ok…didn’t want to miss another day of the Alphabet soup so here we go!!

Letter L:  Laughter:  Here’s a statement to reflect on, written by author Leonid Sukhorukov: “Life is not a laughing metter–but can you imagine having to live without laughing?”

Some Important News For Recognizing a Stroke…Please Read

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) …..she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Ingrid’s husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don’t die…. they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.
It only takes a minute to read this…
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke… totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then gettin g the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the ‘3′ steps, STR . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to r ecognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. It is sunny out today)
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 999/911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke ——– Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Ask the person to ’stick’ out his tongue.. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other , that is also an indication of a stroke.

I’m sure that if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

This was sent in my e-mail.  I’ve actually had it sent a couple times but this time I felt it would be good to share with my buddys.  We thought my dad had a stroke a few weeks ago.  It was scary, but after a 3 day hospital stay he was released and shows no permanent effects of strokes.

I know some special friends here with a stroke victim in their family.  Maybe if we are all more aware of the symptoms we could help more people!!

L0ve ya buddys…have a great weekend.  Eat well, exercise plenty…smile aways.!!

Profile Picture Changed!

Just had to share a pic of my sweet grandson Talan with you.  This was at Christmas as he was riding his Spiderman Big Wheel from Gramma and Grandpa..LOL!! Isn’t he getting so big!!!! I love that little guy more then life itself….aaahhhhh the life of a gramma.  No other love can compare.  Ok..gotta get back to my school work, just had to share a new pic!!!

Dates all confirmed

Walt Disney World Resorts Its   official!!! My sister in law called last night and we   have   reserved our rooms at Wilderness Lodge in Disney World in Florida!! I’m really excited, I’ve never been.  My sister and brother in law are taking us as their guests.  They have Emoticon - Kiwia time share and Wink - Angel Catgo every year.  They picked an extra special suite attached to a regular 2 bedroom villa.  They are giving us the suite.  It is very private and has a small kitchenette also.  There is a regular kitchen in the other part as well.  Its almost like a little apartment with an attached suite.  God are we lucky or what!!!

We still have to pay for the plane tickets and passes into the park and food of course.  As I was telling my dad yesterday he said….”Jane I’d like to pay for this foryou and Alan”  “Its one way I can say thank you for all you do”  WOW WOW WOW WOW…I said but dad, its going to be 2 -3 thousand.  He said it didn’t matter he wanted me to be able to go and have fun.  My mom and dad had gone years ago and he enjoyed it so much.

So guess what BuddySlimmers out there!!!!  The dates we are going are October 5 through October 10th.  It will come quickly….and I have to somehow get some of this weight off.  My sister in law is using the Isagenix program and has lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks.  She says its a miracle.  I know I need to lose the weight in a healthy way, especially with my bad heart.  So I really have a goal now.  I started with that goal in mind, but now thats its “official” I’m more motivated then ever!!!!  Ok, off for now, here is letter K

Alphabet Soup for the Soul

Letter K:  Kindness is a biblical call:  “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted…” (Ephesians 4:32). Act kindly, speak kindly, and think kindly.
