Feeling the Blues :(

Morning Buddys.  Hope this morning is a happy healthy day for everyone.  I wanted to stop in for a quick minute for the Letter of the day.  Here goes

Alphabet Soup for the Soul

Letter V  Visualize: Whenever I am in need of prayer, a Quaker friend will often say, “I am holding you in the light.” Among Quakers, or the Society of Friends, this is a visual prayer in which a person is held in God’s love, light, and healing presence. Do this for someone in need. Visualize them in your prayers. Close your eyes and see the surrounded by God’s illuminating presence.

Feeling somewhat down today after my trip to the cardiologist yesterday :( Waiting for some test results, but we suspect it is truly a weight gain not water gain.  Water gain would be far more dangerous given my heart condition, but a weight gain is almost like a slap in the face.  Guess I’m not working out and eating seriously enough.  So I’ll get back up…quit feeling sorry for my self and go from there.  I’ll be checking in to a Weight Loss Program sponsored by my HMO.  Lets see what happens there..Ok buddys…love you…have a great day!

Time to get serious Jane. There is no more waiting and hoping. I think when health issues are urgent, losing weight and getting in shape should be like a real job. You get up, get dressed, and start working on eating healthy and moving more.

No getting down. Doesn’t do any good or help in any way, so I’m not gonna let you. LOL

Okay, I sent you a private mail this morning, but I want to say something else … cause I have a big mouth…

I want you to SERIOUSLY consider doing some research on how your body works to digest foods, etc. You seem to be floundering with your food choices. You are doing okay with it, but I think it can be polished up somewhat, and I think that can be accomplished with some research on whole foods vs. processed foods, etc. Stuff like that. I know you try, don’t get me wrong, and I’m very VERY proud of the efforts you are making, but as I said, you seem to be floundering and don’t seem to have a clear idea of what kind of eating plan to be on precisely. Does that make any sense? I’ll give you an example. Passing on the potato for broccoli and cheese dish. Sounds like a good choice, but let’s think about it. A white potato is refined carbs, yes. But it is also a good nutritional pick. The broccoli is vegetables, also a good choice, but when you combine it with fat laden cheese (yummy I know), it goes from a good nutritional pick to a dish where the fats and high calories in the cheese way overloads the broccoli’s nutrition, which more than likely was baked out of the dish anyway. Again, am I making any sense?

I don’t want to sound like a know-it-all or tell you what kind of choices to make. I’m trying to get you to research, learn, and focus on one particular path. This is where a dietitian can really help you in the beginning, maybe one or two visits, get you on the right path… a weight loss program can KEEP you on the right path. What is wrong with taking advantage of both? K?

You know I love ya girlfriend. Chin up…

    Hugggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggs,
    Shan

Know the feeling!! But you know the dangers that lurk ahead if you can’t master this. I have a couple of books I use as my guides. Ornish, Reversing heart disease…John Mc Dougall, M.D. The Mc Dougall Plan…. Neal Barnard, M.D. Food for Life. These are old, but I am sure they have some new ones out now. Note the diet Dr. Marc gave me on my blog about lipids. You can do this!!! You know you can. And I am so glad it wasn,t water weight. We know what that means!! Love, love, love, Marge

    Hi Jane,
I know that feeling–I didn’t get serious until my blood pressure was sky high. You can do this though and thank goodness–it’s something that is under YOUR control!!! :) It’s really good news because you can do something about it!!! Especially with the support of your loving hubby, family, buddies, and that new Y membership!!! Hang in there Jane and whenever you are feeling down just remember how loved you are by your family and everyone on this board–especially me!!!
Big Texas Hugs comin’ at ya…….

I have been a little depressed and have not been here. I am sorry Jane. No gain leads us to feeling so hot, but I hope you are seeing some light in just knowing that you are taking some good steps with the program. I bet you have a great time in your program, maybe even meet some cool people. Is it one on one or more like a class?

Chin up Jane. Slow and steady ok? - I too tell myself this. I know I seem to be where I should be, but I too have to be patient in losing this skin. IT REALLY is not pleasant. But I need to wake up! IT is just skin. And you dear woman are here to just do your best and learn. Feel my hand and let’s just make some good choices for ourselves, ok? *hand extended*

Have you ever seen the show Cook Yourself Thin? It is so interesting and realistic. All the best this week sweet Jane *hugs*

Oh Jane, I am so sorry to hear that you’re feeling blue and I sincerely hope that your test results turn out to be a little scare tactic to get you back in shape. I’m right there with you my friend, right there with you! Hang in there and please, please keep us posted!
