Its the Weekend!!
and I’m so much on track I can’t believe it!
YIPPEE!! I’ve watched my salt intake, fat intake, kept with my fluid restrictions and feel sooooooo much better!
The fridge is loaded with fresh fruit and vegetables. Turkey has officially been replaced by hamburger. I have tried mixing 1/2 and 1/2 and it does cook up much better. There are many options out there..have you tried Turkey Tacos? or Turkey Chili? how about Turkey Spaghetti Sauce? thats my husbands fav. He’s so into this whole transformation and I’m so proud of him.
My general medical doctor gave me some tips I’d like to share with you.
- Fill your plate at the stove (no temptations to go back for seconds if it isn’t on the table)
- Have only 1 carb per meal.
- Walk 5 hours per week but work at a pace where you are working hard/breathing hard.
Some good tips and I’m certainly going to try them. Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? The weather will be in the high 80’s??? Can you believe it….ISN’T THIS OCTOBER!! Sheesh…I love the fall. I have the feeling we will go straight from this Indian Summer right to Winter.
Oh well….we’ll take what we can and make the best of it. Hugs to everyone and hoping you all have a fun and successful weekend!

I know, I love fall weather and we are still having summer weather!
I always buy ground turkey. I never buy the ground beef anymore unless a certain recipe calls for it and even then I will buy the leanest kind I can. I make alot of food with the turkey. I think it has a better taste than the beef.
Glad you are doing well Jane. Have a great weekend!
Great job on being on track…
I think you meant to say that turkey had replaced hamburger…not been replaced woth hamburger…
I’m a chicken man myself…I could eat grilled chicken for every meal…every day
Best of luck!

Congratulations on the good week.
Yes…woops!! LOL!! Turkey has REPLACED hamburger!! Wasn’t quite awake when I wrote this morning!! I love grilled chicken also!!
Sounds like you are in the groove lady! I can feel your happines at the changes you are making.
Some great tips from the doctor too. I have a friend that all she uses is ground turkey. Never touches the ground beef. The men in my family won’t stand for it though. LOL Here’s a great casserole recipe that’s quick and easy and my guys love it:
1 pound ground turkey
1 package whole grain egg noodles
1 can low fat cream of mushroom
1 can corn, drained (sometimes I use green peas instead of corn, but the guys like the corn)
Brown meat, boil noodes, mix all and bake for 15-20 minutes. Serve with salad.
Keep up the most excellent attitude Jane. Your heart loves you for it.
Huggggggggggggggggggs,
Shan
I am so glad you are doing so well! I replace hamburger with ground turkey whenever I can get away with it. When the guys in my house have a hamburger I eat turkey burgers. I try to also add more chicken to our diets, but I love chicken alot more than everyone else does.

I love this weather myself. I love fall, but know it leads to winter and I am not a winter person.
Have a good one!
I love ground turkey. It rocks. I’ve definitely made turkey chili. In fact, it’s usually what I make. I’m also a big fan of turkey tenderloin and cutlets. The butterball packages have good recipes on them too btw so check ‘em out. SO GLAD YOU ARE FEELING BETTER! XO Ellen
I’m glad you are feeling better! I think the part I would have the worst problem with is controlling liquid intake! I would HATE that! I would rather not eat than not drink! Never thought it could be a problem, but I guess for some it is way dangerous!
I did make turkey burgers the other day, and I thought they were pretty good. As long as you aren’t trying to think of them as hamburgers. Then they are just a really poor substitute.
Hi, so happy to hear you are doing so well. Just watch the amount of fat in the ground turkey. Sometimes they can fool ya. Don’t you feel much better when you know you are helping your health? I love chicken breast cubed in all kinds of soups. My family got used to that years ago. I have had heart disease for over 20 years. But I am still here!! I know it is my diet and the forced exercise….and I do mean forced. Keep up the great work and you will be here 20-30 years from now. Hugs, Marge
Those are great tips and thanks for sharing. You sound so energized and that is really coming though even on the old computer.
