Have Reality Shows Gone Too Far?

Recliner I’m a huge fan of reality tv but last night was the season premiere of Kid Nation.  Did anyone out there see it?  These poor kids are as young as 8 years old! My heart was breaking when the one little boy was crying and saying “he just wishes he was older” he missed his mom and dad…..poor baby.   I think society is making our kids grow up way faster then they should.  What happened to the good old days…things are changing so quickly.

We are big fans of Biggest Loser and tonight is Survivor!! wait, and how about Big Brother….Top Chef…Hells Kitchen…American Idol….So You Think You Can Dance!!! I’m sure theres a few I’ve forgotten!! LOL!! Geez it seems our evenings completely revolve around the tv.  Last night my husband and I cut our walk short because of the stupid tv!!! HELP I’M ADDICTED!!! LOL!!

The worse part about it is the eating that goes along with our “favorite” shows.  What ever made me think we should have “special snacks” for our favorite shows??   someone just smack me in the head a couple of times….REALITY CHECK!!

Lately I’m struggling with the night eating.  In the past Survivor night here meant Pizza or Subs.  I have to learn somehow to break that habit or I’ll never meet my goals.

I’m hoping everyone is having a great day.  The weather is just breathtaking here!!

I know, but I am the worst addict. I watched Americas Next Top Model last night. There has got to be a 12 step program. I will miss Survivor tonight but the aggies play and I must watch that instead :). have a good day.

I didn’t watch Kid nation but I have seen and heard things about it. Not sure if I agree with the concept. Seems a bit harsh for kids. I am somewhat a small addict myself. Loved big brother. Always have. Now that it is over and America’s next Top Model is back, I won’t miss it! I don’t get into all the reality shows though. I only allow myself 2 at the most because otherwise I’d never get up from the couch!
I use to eat while watching the shows too but I just quit doing it. GO cold turkey! That is your best bet or just pick something healthy and light. You just have to ask yourself how bad you want to reach your goals and JUST DO IT! I know you can.

I can honestly say that I don’t watch tv. I gave it up about 3 years ago now. No internet at home either. We kind of live under a rock. I get impatient with tv on a good day, so I decided that $10 a month was too much for basic cable. Haven’t watched tv since. Crazy thing though is that we have a large plasma screen we have bought in the last 6 mos or so. We LOVE movies!! Hubby is a gamer too, so he likes the big tv. I used to actively follow CSI. Loved that show. The current line-up is a little beyond my knowledge now.

I don’t get the time to watch much TV, but I do love American Idol. We do watch movies on the weekends if it’s raining out. The men in my house LOVE to snack while watching movies. I’ve gotten comfortable with not snacking during movie time. I do have low-fat popcorn on hand though if I feel the need to feed. LOL

    Hugggggggggggs,

I don’t watch tv too much either. I would rather read or go out for a walk. However I cancel plans for the American Idol. Why who knows………

I’m only addicted to Lost (when it comes back on) and my nighttime line-up (esp Still Standing) at bedtime. Internet is a bigger addiction for me.
