New Weekend New Challenges

Leaf Pile Its the countdown to the Weekend!! YIPPEE!! Can’t wait….no committments or obligations as of yet.  We’ll probably do lots of yard work since the weather is just beautiful.  This is absolutely the most beautiful time of year here in Michigan!  You can smell Fall in the air.

One of my husbands co-workers grew pumpkins this year so he decided to share 4 of them.  YAHOO!! I love pumpkins.  We have so many pumpkin patches and apple orchards within 20 miles of our home.  We’ll get the corn stalks up…load up with even more varietys of pumpkins and ghords.  Does anyone out there bake the pumpkin seeds after carving?  LOL!! WE DO WE DO!!! My daughter in law and I can’t wait for pumpkin night here at the house.  My poor son just rolls his eyes..LOL!!  he’s a little party pooper.

Well yesterday spent with my daughter and grandson brought on many challenges.  I failed horribly.  Went to Old Country Buffett and started with a healthy salad, but quickly changed directions with bisquits, gravy, etc.

I learned the hard way…feel yucky…really worn out.  I made next weeks menu and it is diet healthy for everyone!

It should make the week flow much smoother.  Hopefully the weekend will go well also.  I need to work harder.  Walking has become a nightly routine with my husband and I.  Yesterday I walked Talan for 30 minutes up and down hills and sidewalks.  It was a good workout and the babyloved it!

Happy Weekend to you all!!

To everyone here at BuddySlim for sharing and teaching others through your own life experiences.

I’ve been reading and catching up on blogs for almost 2 hours now and the information is incredible!  I’ve laughed, cried, felt angry, felt happy, you name it.  We all try to get through one day at a time, we are all faced with different struggles in our everyday lives.

Somedays it seems difficult to really express your feelings on paper.   There are no facial expressions or voice tones used.  But overall I believe we are here to help others and find help ourselves.

I wanted to take a minute to thank the people here who have taken the time to give me encouragement and support when I so badly needed it.  Also for the little kick in the butt…and the gentle nudges along the way.

Happy to say my husband and I are back on track with our walking.  Last night we got in the car and drove to the High School in town to walk the track.  Sadly there was a football game (Tuesday night seemed odd) so we parked at the Baptist Church and just started walking the neighborhood.  I loved it!! we looked at all the different houses and of course had to offer our opinion and comments…LOL!!  I’m so lucky to have such a fun husband….hes my best friend!!

We ended the night watching Biggest Loser and had a lowfat snack…Popcorn!! So overall I feel like progress was made today.

I hope everyone is having a happy and blessed day today!

If God is moving you into a new season, you will go out in joy and be led forth in peace… (Isaiah 55:12)  You will not be angry, bitter or offended toward anyone.  If you’ve outgrown the place you’re presently in, your departure will more than likely be marked by a mixtur of bittersweet emotions, including sadness and joy, excitement and uncertainty.  Nevertheless, deep inside you’ll know it’s time to move on and embrace the new place God has for you.

A Little Joyce Meyer

Psychedelic is just what I needed.  Any other Joyce fans out there at BuddySlim?  I’ve been feeling really off these past 3 days.  The weekend was horrible and I live for the weekends with my husband.  The kids were going out of town to a wedding and would be gone from noon Saturday until later Sunday afternoon.  Dad invited us for Sunday Breakfast out and we gladly accepted.  I tend to forget when we do breakfast with him he seems to end up in our living room for the entire day.  Please don’t get me wrong I truly love my father but we spend everynight 7 days a week from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with dinner and reading the paper.   The weekend is the ONLY time my husband and I have and we still give up our weekend evenings.   We really have no life at this point.

So anyways…I’ve been in a slump.  Joyce Meyer has preached at conferences all over and one of my favs is her sermon on “What about Me?”  If you’ve seen it you can truly relate to what I’ve been feeling.

I’ve been on this 3 day pity party…LOL…what about me?  LOL!! How silly!! I got myself all worked up in a tizzy by Sunday night and it just dragged into Monday.

I turned on Joyce Meyer and watched her 20 minute sermon and I feel sooooooooooo much better.  I’m ready to jump back in and start walking again.  Making better food choices again…you know the drill!

Seems like some of my buddies have been a bit down as well.  Lets hope this is the week to get back on our feet and flourish!!! We CAN and WILL do it!!

Hey Biggest Losers addicts out there…tonight is a 2 hour show..YIPPEE!!! Ohhhh the simple things in life!!

Do the things you can, and let God handle the things you can’t.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

I am so close!!

Cheating Unfortunately I can’t say I’m close to my weight goals but I am so close to finishing my first book of Medical Terminology!!!! OMG!! I am sooooooooooo happy.  I have only 2 chapters left to go and they both sound interesting.  Pharmacology and Psychiatry.

The second book in my course is actually typing medical records.  I’m so ready to pass this course and get the proper certification so I can GO TO WORK!

I love staying home and I’m probably one of the luckiest people around.  I never get pressure to go out to work but geez I’M WANT TO!!

Then I won’t think about eating as much as I do staying at home.  I’ve come to the conclusion that most of my eating is really from boredom here at home.

Ok..I’m done…just had to share my good news…I’m just a bit excited…(can’t you tell…LOL)

Have fun…Smile at a Stranger…Give someone a Hug!

Have Reality Shows Gone Too Far?

Recliner I’m a huge fan of reality tv but last night was the season premiere of Kid Nation.  Did anyone out there see it?  These poor kids are as young as 8 years old! My heart was breaking when the one little boy was crying and saying “he just wishes he was older” he missed his mom and dad…..poor baby.   I think society is making our kids grow up way faster then they should.  What happened to the good old days…things are changing so quickly.

We are big fans of Biggest Loser and tonight is Survivor!! wait, and how about Big Brother….Top Chef…Hells Kitchen…American Idol….So You Think You Can Dance!!! I’m sure theres a few I’ve forgotten!! LOL!! Geez it seems our evenings completely revolve around the tv.  Last night my husband and I cut our walk short because of the stupid tv!!! HELP I’M ADDICTED!!! LOL!!

The worse part about it is the eating that goes along with our “favorite” shows.  What ever made me think we should have “special snacks” for our favorite shows??   someone just smack me in the head a couple of times….REALITY CHECK!!

Lately I’m struggling with the night eating.  In the past Survivor night here meant Pizza or Subs.  I have to learn somehow to break that habit or I’ll never meet my goals.

I’m hoping everyone is having a great day.  The weather is just breathtaking here!!

Happy National Butterscotch Pudding Day!! Huh???

Yup believe it or not September 19th is National Butterscotch Pudding day!! LOL!! ok, I’m a really happy and high energy type of person but cmon now.  Who really comes up with these so called HOLIDAYS!! Its actually comical in a strange way!!

Does Hallmark make such a card for this day??? LOL!!

But seriously, this site  Hungry-Girl.com was shared right here on BuddySlim.  Some of you might remember April (ladybugtoes)?  I haven’t seen her lately, hope all is well with her.  She had flashed the address on one of her blogs.  I went there and signed right up.  They send an interesting newsletter.  You all might enjoy looking into it!  The address is www.Hungry-Girl.com

Todays particular subject was fiber.  As I take small steps through my journey to healthiness I’m finding out how little I really knew about nutrition.   Its not just a matter of eating lots of fruits and vegetables…there are so many that really have great benefits!! I’m having fun checking out all the site online, the internet is truly a wealth of information! Not to mention how much I learn everyday from other peoples blogs and lives.  How lucky I am to be a part of this special extended family here at BuddySlim!!  A big Thank you for everyone here…some days we just don’t get out enough “personal thank you’s”.

Hope everyone is having a blessed and successful day out there!

1 Down 54 To Go

Considering I haven’t been on track much at all lately I should be thrilled.  I guess when I saw the scale move I was thrilled but looking back at my journey I’m pretty disgusted with myself.

The weight has ranged from 206 all the way down to 197 in the past few weeks.  I now weighed in at 199.  Soooooo now I’m getting serious…I need to get mad at myself in order to make this work.

My sweet husband is my rock.  We have walked 3 out of 4 evenings and I feel great from that!  Were watching Biggest Loser and I get really motivated watching!!

I truly love watching my Buddys progress.  So many of you are TRUE INSPIRATIONS to me!! and because of that..

SERIOUS FACE…GAME ON BUDDYS!!! We can do this…just take a minute and look at peoples Before/After Pics.  They are AMAZING!! I want to be Amazing like them!

Today is a new day…the first day of the rest of your lives.

At the heart of everyone is a perfect child of God

Go BUDDYSLIMMERS!!!! Have a great Day!

Just grab your husband/wife/friend/children and WALK WALK WALK!!!

Good Morning Buddyslimmers!! Its a beautiful day here in Michigan…so I say grab someone you love and just take a nice long walk!!   We all need to get our exercise in and what better way??  My husband and I have gone for the past 2 evenings.  We only walk about 25 mins but I figure its much better then not walking at all!!

I’m hoping everyone is having a blessed Sunday doing what you enjoy the best.  For me, it is spending time with my family!!

If you want happiness for an hour - take a nap

If you want happiness for a day  -  go fishing

If you want happiness for a year  -  inherit a fortune

If you want happiness for a lifetime -  help someone else!!

Calling all with a good sense of humor!

ROTFL This is for friends of all ages but it really reflects the times of those over 40.  This was sent to me by my sister-in-law.  I enjoyed it so much I just had to share with you here.
DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN?

All the girls had ugly one piece gym uniforms?

Nearly everyones Mom was home when the kids came home from school?

You got your windshield cleaned, oil checked and gas pumped without asking, for free every time?

Lying on your back in the grass with your friends saying things like “That cloud looks like a …”?

Stuff from the store came without safety caps & seals because noone had yet tried to poison a perfect stranger?

When being sent to the principals office was nothing compared to the fate that awaied the student at home?

Basically we were in fear for our lives but it wasn’t because of drive-by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc.  Our parents & grandparents were a much bigger threat?  But we survived because their love was greater then the threat.

Do you remember Nancy  Drew & The Hardy Boys?

Summers filled with bike rides, hula hoops, bowling, visits to the pool and eating koolaid powder with sugar — doesn’t it feel good just to go back and say “Yeah I remember that”?

I was given a double dog dare to share this —- so tell me now HOW MANY OF YOU REMEMBER THESE ?  ~~giggling~~

Candy Cigerettes

Wax - Coke Shaped Bottles with sugar water inside

Blackjack, Clove & Teaberry chewing Gum

45 RPM Records…how about Donny Osmond?  Jackson 5 or Partridge Family??

Drive-in Movies, Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs?

Jiffy Pop Popcorn in its ready to pop container (on the stove of course!)

Catching fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening?

The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was “The Cooties”

“Oly-oly-oxen-free” made perfect sense?

Spinning around in circles, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for giggles?

War was a card game?

If you can remember most or all of these, then what a wonderful live you’ve lived so far!!!!

I just loved this, I hope anyone reading this has fun with it also!!

Have a great weekend to all!!! Remember to stay on track…We can do this!!
